Part 8

"So are you dating Cheryl now?" Veronica questioned.

"I think- yes? no? yes? I have no idea," you replied, crossing your legs over Veronica's silky bedspread.  "All I know is that we had a great time and she kissed me."

"She what? You left out the k-i-s-s-i-n-g part of this story, Y/N. This definitely means something to her."

"I guess I won't know until Monday when I see her at school," you sighed, resting your head on your hands.

"Hey, don't get worried over this. Let's just celebrate the fact that you had a successful date with The Cheryl Blossom. Shall we go to Pop's, where it all began?" Veronica suggested.

"Of course! I'll text Betty and Jughead to let them know we're going," you told Veronica.

you: hey! v and i are going to pop's, wanna come?

betty: sure! be there in 10 

you: i have news to spill :D

betty: do tell

you: wait and find out ;)

Jughead 👑

you: hey jug! B and V and i are going to pop's

jug: cool. i'm already there. 

you: of course you are, forsythe.

jug: 🙄

"Is it cool if I invite Archie?" Veronica asked, looking up at you from her phone.

"Archie Andrews? I haven't seen him all summer, let alone in the first week of school."

"Really, how? He's on the football team and he's always walking the hallways, total cutie."

"Well, Veronica Lodge, if you know me," you said, kicking your legs off of her bed, "I like to stay out of the hallways, so I don't get trampled by the football team. It happened to me last year."

"You have to meet him, he actually isn't a douche like Reggie."

You nodded slowly, "Go ahead then, let me meet the other redhead in this town we call Riverdale.

"Betty!" you exclaimed, getting up from your seat in Pop's to give your long-time friend a hug.

"Tell me everything that happened last night."

You went on to explain how genuinely sweet Cheryl was that night. Everyone knows Cheryl as the popular mean girl from Riverdale High, but you knew her as the girl who stole your heart.

"Archie!" Veronica remarked, climbing out of her seat to greet the redheaded boy. "Archie, this is Y/N."

"Oh, hi, Y/N. I kind of know you. I have chemistry with you," said Archie, sitting down with the gang.

"Oh right, still haven't gotten my pencil back from when you 'borrowed' Tuesday," you smirked.

"I can give it back if-"

"No, Archie, it's fine. I'm just teasing you," you said, your eyes moving over to Jughead. He hadn't even looked up when Archie walked in. You noticed Archie had seen Jughead as well and had a dirty look on his face.

You whispered to Betty, "Is something going on between Jug and Arch?"

Betty just shrugged, "I don't know, but it shouldn't ruin our fun night." You nodded in agreement.

"Milkshakes? Everyone's regular I assume?" Pop Tate asked.

Everyone said yes in unison and laughed. "Got it. Those will be out shortly!" he said, walking behind the counter.

The 5 friends chatted happily throughout the Saturday night, not realizing that a huge discovery in Jason Blossom's murder case would be revealed the next day.
