Reluctantly, your lips pulled away for a breath of air and only three words were on the tip of your tongue.
"I love you," you whispered.
"I know," Cheryl replied, and you couldn't tell if it was rain or tears dripping down her face. She pulled you into a tight hug, her red hair turning an odd shade of brown as the rain soaked it.
"We should," you pulled away from the hug, "probably, um."
"Get out of the rain?" Cheryl finished your sentence, letting out a small giggle.
"Yeah," you said, grinning.
Cheryl linked arms with yours and walked you into the cozy, nearly empty diner. As you stepped in, you heard applauding to your left, seeing Veronica, Betty, and Kevin smiling.
"Is there room for us?" you asked.
"There's always room for you, Y/N. Oh, and Cheryl too," said Kevin, scooting over in the booth.
"You guys are soaked to the skin! You must be freezing! Pop, can we get a round of hot chocolates for the girls?" Betty called out.
"Of course! Just one moment," Pop Tate replied.
Betty thanked Pop, turning her attention back to her friends.
"So what was that all about?" Veronica asked.
"What was what all about?" you followed up, stealing a fry from the basket in the middle of the table.
"She means our cliche 'kissing in the rain' scenario, you idiot," Cheryl teased, ringing out the rain from her hair.
"So," you began, "you know how uptight and traditional my mom is? Well, I gave a speech tonight. I told her that I'm dating the Cheryl Blossom. I told her that I'm best friends with Jughead Jones. And I told her that I don't care what she has to say about my decisions anymore. It's my life, my mistakes, my choices. I should have the biggest say in everything I do."
"Wow," said Kevin.
"Y/N if I ever said anything like that to my mom, I'd be dead," Betty said, surprised.
"How'd she react?" Veronica inquired.
"She said she was sorry for everything. I don't really believe it but I left before she could say anything else. Then I called my favorite redhead-" Cheryl kissed your cheek, "and here we are!"
"Two hot chocolates for the lovely ladies," Pop interjected. "I have some towels in the back, would you like me to get those for you?" he offered.
"Yes, please. If it's not any trouble of course."
"No problem Miss L/N! I'll be right back." Pop Tate left.
The group talked like friends who hadn't seen each other in years, they sipped hot chocolates, many milkshakes, and ate at least 6 baskets of cheesy fries. But the person who wasn't with them, Archie Andrews, was in the middle of a scandalous relationship with the music teacher, Ms. Geraldine Grundy.

This was a bit of a shorter chapter, but I'm hoping for a longer one next time I update. I got halfway through yesterday's episode so I'll watch the rest of it after school today. Thanks for reading! Leave a comment!
