*RING*

"Ugh, I'm so glad school is over. I have a ton of homework to get to, plus that art project due Friday," you complained, slamming your locker shut.

Jughead didn't respond but stared into the music room with a strange look on his face.

"Jug? What is it?" you asked, concerned.

"Y/N, come over here, you won't believe this," he urged.

You shuffled over to the door's small window and saw Archie Andrews being uncomfortably close to Ms. Grundy.

You took a step back, "Woah. Should we confront them?"

"Not now. Archie has football practice, we'll catch him when he gets home," he paused. "In the meantime, wanna hang out?" Jughead suggested.

"Sure! I have a ton of homework, we could go to my place?" you asked, throwing your bag over your shoulder.

"That's a first. Is your mom okay with it?"

"She should be fine with it now after what I gave her last night," you stifled a laugh, "Let's go."

The silver key turned in the lock and your front door stood wide open. "Mom! I'm home! I brought a friend with me."

"Hey, sweetheart, how was your-" she stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Jughead at your side.

"Mom, this is my friend Jughead. We were going to work on some homework," you explained.

"Nice to meet you, Jughead," she stumbled over his name. "I could get you some snacks?"

"That would be nice, mom. Thanks!" you lead Jughead up the stairs to your room.

"And leave the door open!" your mom yelled from the kitchen. You sighed and plopped onto your bed. "Alright let's get this crap done," you pulled out a notebook along with a pen and started to copy down notes.

When you and Jughead finally finished homework, Jughead decided it was finally time to confront Archie about his relationship with Ms. Grundy. The ride to Archie's house was quiet, only a few words were spoken between the two of you. Jughead was probably trying to think of what to say to his best friend, or should you say, former best friend.

You knew Archie would be home pretty soon so Jughead suggested waiting on his front porch instead of making a huge scene inside. And finally, Archie came carrying a bag of food from Pop's.

"Jug, Y/N? What's up?" Archie asked, confused.

"What's up is we saw you, Archie. In the music room with Ms. Grund-"

"Keep your voice down, my dad's inside," Archie interjected.

"I'm trying to help you, dude," Jughead continued, "I'm trying to be your friend here, even though we're not anymore," he paused. "How long? You and Grundy?"

"Since this summer," Archie mumbled. "I like her."

Jughead scoffed. "So I'm guessing she's the reason you've been acting weird since summer?"

You crossed your arms, frowning at Archie.

"One of them," answered Archie.

"One of them?! There's more?" you spoke up.

"We were at Sweetwater River on July 4th." Jughead sighed in disbelief. "We heard a gunshot- the gunshot."

"Dude, you have to tell somebody-"

"I can't! Neither can you. If people find out about me and Grundy-"

"A kid is dead, Archie!"

"And you're worried about some, some cougar?"

"Don't call her that! Okay, she's not like that," Archie insisted.

"She's the one telling you not to say anything, she obviously cares more about herself than you," you told the redheaded boy.

"Look, I saw you guys. She's messing with you man!"

"What the hell do you even know about it, Jughead? Or about me even?" Archie yelled.

"Nothing. But I used to know this guy once, Archie Andrews. He wasn't perfect, but, he at least tried to do the right thing," Jughead started to walk off but Archie stopped him.

"Jug, if you tell anyone about this.."

"What? What are you gonna do?"

Suddenly the mess of a conversation was interrupted by Mr. Andrews opening the door. "Jug, Y/N! Coming in? We got takeout from Pop's."

"They were just leaving," Archie said coldly, walking up the steps and into his house, followed by a wave from Fred.

Jughead stormed off and you ran after him. "Jughead wait!" you grabbed his arm, "I can give you a ride home."

"I'll be fine, thanks anyway, Y/N." Jughead walked off, leaving you in the dark.
