Adapting to new conditions

Mark's pov:

I watched as jack was carted threw these big swinging doors. He had woken up a few time and when he did he was either zoned out or looking at me with these big scared eyes. Those eyes reminded me of a little kid lost in a big mall. He held my hand tightly as they put a mask over his mouth. It seemed to calm him down and he started to slightly let go of the death grip on my purplish hand. But instead my grip tightened on his slightly limp hand. When he was asleep I would watch the medics closely as they cleaned and stopped the bleeding properly. One of them seemed to get creeped out by my stare but I was just trying to make sure they sidnt harm my wittle Jacky further. They said I had down a good job with those towels. From what they told me the bullet had shattered after it made contact with his shoulder.''It's good that it shattered Mr. Fischbach. It could have been worse if it got lodged in his shoulder bone.''I dialed up Katie as I sat in the waiting room sobbing like a mess. I told her what happened and she said she would drop by tomorrow before her shift. Luna didn't seem to do much. In the ambulance she just sort of had this unreadable look the whole way. It made me want to ask her what was wrong but I couldn't speak. When I tried my voice would either crack or a choked up sob would come out. She sat two or three seats away from me which made me even sadder then I already was. I really needed a hug right now from someone.(here's your chance fangurls to get a hug oml)I calmed down eventually so I then decided to call Felix. It's been awhile since I've last talked to him. It kinda made me feel like a bad friend. He didn't pick up but I didn't blame him. It was almost midnight and most people are asleep by this point. Eventually a nurse came out and told me the details of what they had found out and done to him. The bullet had shattered into a bunch of little pieces but they had gotten them all out. There might be some damage to his shoulder but they aren't sure yet. She led me down a couple halls and up two floors. As she passed a help desk with tissues she handed me a few and told me to wipe my face. She smiled sympathetically at me as I sniffled and wiped my face as she pushed open his door. I gasped at what I saw. He was sickly white and he was propped up on a few pillows. His hair was slicked back and his injured shoulder was up in a sling. His beautiful eyes where closed and a I.V. looking thing was stuck in his other arm. I threw away the used tissues as I passed by a trash can near jack's bed. The nice nurse gave me a chair and I sat down and held his cold slack hand. He didn't even fidget when I squeezed his clammy hand. I could hear luna walk in but I didn't notice much as I worried over my poor jacki. I looked at his once lively ever changing face to see it slack and his eyes still closed. I looked over at the nurse to see that she had a look on her face like she was fangirling over us. I gave her this questioning look and she seemed to snap out of it.''I'm a fan of yours and his. Also don't worry he's still out of it from surgery. I think I might have turned off the bell notification for his channel because I haven't been getting the normal notifications?'' I smiled sadly at her.''After his....our daughter died everything went down hill.'' My blood began to boil as I told her what happened. I still can't believe his own fans did this to him. After she left with gritted teeth and a slightly red face I layed my head down on a piece of the bed. I'm glad he's alive but we need a break. A break from all this madness. A vacation maybe could be fun. I think I need to get a gun if stuff like this keeps happening to us. I turned my head over to look at Luna, she had her knees to her chest as she sat in her chair with silent tears running down her face. "You ok?" I asked hoping to make the situation a little less intense. "Mentally or physically? I'm pretty fucked up in the head right now but other than that I'm just perfect. At this point I'll be an orphan." I raised my eyebrows at this."Huh? An orphan? What about your mom?" Concern laced my voice as I waited for her answer. "Good ol'dad took care of that. Awhile ago he abused her and she left. She was going to take me but as soon as she stepped foot in the train with me in her arms, I was snatched by one of my dad's associates. I've never seen her since. But I still remember her crys of pain and protest." She shivered as she looked at me with tears in her eyes. "It's just gonna be me on my own,I guess." She sighed. I slowly let go of Jack's cold hand and got up. I walked stiffly over to Luna and she seemed to get scared. It made me feel like an asshole but she seemed to relax when I bent down and gave her a bear hug. She hugged back eventually and I could feel her smiling slightly. We sat like that for a few minutes until I heard Jack's breathing pick up. I snapped my head to looked over at him and saw his eyes opening like a sleep little kid. "Hey Jackaboy. How ya doin?" Jack looked at me like a scared puppy for a second as his eyes darted around the room. He looked like he couldn't remember where he was. It took him a second to figure it out. He suddenly started laughing and groaning as %ŕ eventually and smiled at us. I smiled back at him. I heard luna begin t5cry behind me. We looked at her and she had her hands on her face. She was red in the face and bawling. "I'm s-so sorry! I didn't w-want this to h-happen! I do t-this to everyone I-I meet! You w-were the first p-person that I r-respected and.... and..." she was chocking on her own tears. I bent down and picked her up in my arms. I held her close as I walked over to Jack and sat in my chair. I patted her back to see if this could help her breathe a but better. "Hey..... It's gonna be ok. Look at me." I nudged her and she looked up at me. Her eyes were blood shot and watery. "I promise from this day forward, I'll protect you." I gently smiled at her and squeezed her tightly to my chest. She suddenly hugged me tightly. I hugged her even tighter then before. I smiled slightly as Jack beckoned for me to lean her his way. With his good arm and a slight bit of struggle from his bad shoulder he had moved her from my arms to tucked between his good arm and his side.  "Luna... are you alright lass?" He smiled kindly down at her and squeezed her tightly with one arm. The concern in his voice was so deep his whole voice almost changed. He sounded like a deeply concerned teacher when you're starting to fail their class."I'm sorry Jack. I didn't want this to happen. I wish I ran somewhere else. I didn't have to get you involved." He chuckled which puzzled luna."It's fine Luna. Like Marki said, we'll protect you!" Luna leaned over to Jack and hugged him lightly,afraid to hurt him further. "Thank you." She whispered it so quietly I almost didn't hear. She was shocked when Jack squeezed the air out of her lungs with just one arm. She smiled and stood up out of the bed and rubbed her rins a little. Sye was out of tye bed right before the doctor walked in amazingly enough. The doctor walked in but she wasn't alone. There was a tall man with blackish blue hair and a deep purple shirt with a light pink tie. "I have some good news and some bad news. Good news is we got back the results and it says that Mr. McLaughlin should be able to leave the hospital in a few days. Bad news is, Ms. Swan you can't stay with your father anymore because of recent events. Your gonna have to go to the orphanage for your last few months as an adolescent. I'm sorry. This young man right here is going to take you there." Luna sighed and walked toward him. I glanced at Jack searching for the answer in his eyes. He nodded to me and I and I blurted out rather loudly at that "EXCUSE ME! But is it possible to adopt her?" I asked. She looked back at me with a shocked, yet happy face. "Yes. It'll take a day or two to process the papers but other than that, she's all yours after Mr. McLaughlin here gets released!" He seemed rather pleased with himself after he said this. Luna looked over at me and ran towards me. She jumped up and hugged me tightly. I felt like I was choking when she finally loosened her tight grip. I don't know if the lights were playing tricks on me or if I was just tired but I saw Echo in the corner of the room looking at me and smiling her glowing smile. I smiled back and she disappeared with a whisper like wind carrying her voice to me. "Keep that promise like you kept ours..." I started to tear up and I squeezed tighter. Luna and I broke apart and went over to Jack who looked left out. "I want hugs too!" He cheered like a grumpy little kid at the fact of being left out. We all had a group hug and I smiled from all of this love. I can't believe how far I've come from being suicidal to having a loving boyfriend and two daughters.  I can't wait to get out of this god forsaken hospital to enjoy this life more. After awhile Luna and I grew sleepy but Jack seemed to not be sleepy so he had a nurse turn on the small tv that they had mounted on the wall in the corner and put on a cartoon channel. Luna doozed off in a chair and I climbed into bed and fell asleep to the sound of his heart beat. I was filled with happiness from the sound of the beat and him sliding me closer and kissing the top of my head.

Jack's pov:

I smiled as mark began to snore a little and every once and awhile and he would wiggle in closer to my side. I'm just so happy to have someone so kind and loving as him in my life. I kissed the top of his head and from the half of the face I could see smiled dreamily at my kiss. I chuckled slightly and pulled my blanket over the both of us. I looked back at the tv as I zoned out watching skyhigh. I can't believe out of everyone mark could've chosen he chose me. I smiled lazily as sleep began to take me once more.
