Chapter 18

KATNISS POV:

Me and Annie race to the hospital on foot, since we forgot the car keys. I beat her but that doesn't stop me from sprinting up to the front desk,

"Katniss...Everdeen" I pant trying to catch my breath 

"Oh Katniss! Yes Is Annie Cresta with you?"

"Behind me" I state and turn to see Annie running towars us her cheeks burning and her breathing heavy.

"Ah right Okay well we needed you both for a reason let me call the doctor it is best he explains" She grabs a phone and rings a number. A man in a white coat walks calmly towards us and gestures for us to follow him. He leads us into an office with a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The floor is just wood and the walls have a light pattern on.

"Miss Everdeen and Miss Cresta" he adresses us while we nod confirming he is correct "I have some news on your friend Finnick?" We nod again "It seems after the tests we have carried out his memory may not come back, and even if it does extremely slowly. We can't let him out until he is recovered but at this rate we fear he will never recover so we have an option" My mouth feels dry. He won't get his memory back? "The first option is to send him off to the capitol where they may be able to try and fix his brain but the medicine they use may harm him even more enough to kill him option two is to leave him here and see what happens, I understand this is a hard desicion so you may step outside and discuss" Me and Annie swiftly exit the room and as soon as we are out I lean against the wall few tears escaping

"Annie listen you are going to hat me but we hae to send him to the Capitol!" She stares at me in shock and begins shaking her head and occasionally whispering 'no' "Listen they can fix him-"

"OR THEY COULD KILL HIM" She screams and a few sobs escape her mouth. I walk up to her and wrap my arms around her

"Its for the best, please Annie it would work" I whisper with my head in her shoulder

"What if it doesn't" She sobs

"We will have to take our chances" I whisper gently. Eventually she agrees and we make our way back into the doctor's room.

"Girls!" He smiles "Have you made your decision?" He question and I nod turning to Annie she gives me a faint smile and I take a deep breath

"He is going to the capitol" I confirm

"Excellent! I will arrange it as soon as possible for you by the way he will be there for about 3-6 months depending on how things go" Annies eyes bulge out of thier sockets and she stares in shock he dissmisses it and leads us out. When we get out and are alone in the corridoor Annie bursts into another wave of tears. I don't say anything just lead her out the hospital. 

When we get to our dorm she pounces on her bed and screams into her pillow. I grab my Jacket and decide to go on a walk. WIth all thats happening I just want some piece and quite. I walk down the streets and eventually lose my bearing but I keep walking further and further away. It calms me when I reach a wood I've never been here before so I explore. I am about to climb a tree when I hear something. Something I recognize. Someone. I walk deeper into the woods towards the sound. I make out a scream and begin to walk soundlessly. As I get closer I can hear a few sobs. I come round the corner of a tree I was hiding behind and see something that breaks my heart. Shatters it even.

"NO!" I scream
