EPILOGUE

I lay in the metal bed, machines beeping around me. I have learnt to accept now that this is the end. I had denied it for so long but maybe its best for me. Ive lived my life and now its time to move on, to go back to Peeta.

He died that night, the doctors tried everything in their power, but it wasnt enough. Peeta died, right by my side in the same bed I am in now. I made a request to pass in the same bed as he did. Ever since the night he passed a huge hole has been burning in my heart until now where I think it has killed it. I can't hold on any longer and Im not sure If i want to. I want to go back to Peeta. Be wrapped in his warm embrace and here his soft soothing words gently whisper me to sleep. 

Annie and Finnick made up and got back together, On their 6 year anniversery Finnick proposed to her and they got married. Their wedding was truly magical, Annie had a beautiful silky white dress that dragged behind her and neither have them have ever smiled as much as they did in that moment. They had two kids: Willow and Maple. Willow is now 16 and Maple is 11 I treated them as my own and I loved them and I will do forever. 

I moved in with Annie, Finnick, Willow and Maple, we were like a family. After Peeta passed I was never the same again it took me a few years to adgust but I did gradually, it was never the same again though. 

The beeping becomes less and less, I know the time is coming. Annie sits beside me squeezing my hand.

"You are so brave Katniss, so brave. Your stength is incredible, you stand tall even though all you've been through, You are my best friend Katniss I will miss you forever, I love you Katniss, your like the sister I never had" Tears slip down her face but I have lost the strength to wipe them for her, the last I manage is a small smile before I am consumed with a bright light. I stand there dazed for a minute before a figure starts walking towards me. Peeta. I take off running at the speed of light towards him. I jump at him and englf him in a huge hug sobbing.

"Come on Katniss its time to go" I take his hand and we walk into the unknown together...
