{..................Tris's POV..................}

(Carries on from last chapter, still in flashback)

We walked on to the fear landscape room in silence. Uriah's eyes suddenly finding the floor extremely interesting.

You could have cut through the awkward tension with a knife. Which most people in dauntless have on them like 24/7 anyway; I'm not kidding either. Some people keep them in really weird places though, like held in their bras or hair, apparently this one guy even holds one between his butt cheeks.

Only the echoes from our shoes walking along the dark polished tiles of the dauntless corridors could be heard. I don't know why but this set me on edge; knowing we were the only ones around. It just felt weird.

If I told you I wasn't worried about what I was about to go and do, I'd be lying. I mean seriously, I was about to go into someone else's fear landscape, and trust me the word 'fear' is put there for a reason.

Those things are scary. For all I know Uriah could have some seriously terrifying shit in his, especially if his face earlier was anything to go by. For all I know I might even end up coming out with an extra fear of my own, one I never even knew I had. Now that would ultimately suck.

As we rounded the last corner of the corridor, Uriah's hand flies out and stops me dead in my tracks; his face suddenly turning to stone.

"What the he-". I attempt to speak but he puts his finger to his lips and points towards the room we were intending to enter. I follow his gaze and immediately understand what he means.

Four's in the room.

I could see him through the small window in the wall. His hair is tousled as though he's been tossing and turning on the chair, his eyes also seem sad. This unsettled me further. It looks as though he's just come out of his own fear landscape. I wonder what he's scared of. More importantly, why is he even going into his landscape? He's already a member, he has no need to re-visit the horror. I didn't get time to worry about this further because soon enough, after placing the needle back on its rack, he heads towards the door...right towards us.

SHIT

If he catches us here, we're dead.

I looked at Uriah and I could tell he was thinking exactly the same thing I was. We need to hide. He silently beckoned me half way back down the corridor where he then pulled me into a deep doorway. I had literally just concealed the last of my body behind the wall before four turned onto the corridor and marched straight past our little hiding place. A few seconds passed before both me and Uriah breathed out a sigh of relief. We got away with it. We then ran back down to the fear landscape room before anyone else could catch us. I doubt we'd have been as lucky a second time.
