Nothing exciting here, but in chapter 13 Kara couldn't understand a conversation between Lena's nurses and doctors because Kara's ears were still ringing from her fight with the Ultra-Gang folks. Here is the "unbuzzed" version of the conversation if anyone is curious. In some comments I'd said I would post it, but then I'd forgotten.

Kara had just about reached the nurses station when she saw Lena's doctor and both of her private nurses coming together in the hallway. The doctor had a chart one Kara could only assume belonged to Lena given that Dr. Queen was in from D.C. strictly to consult on Lena's case. The trio looked to be having a fairly serious conversation, and Kara wanted to know more. Her first instinct was to walk up to them and say, 'Catch me up.' However, Lena was keeping information on her condition from Kara. That meant that mostly likely, the medical staff that Lena hired would be doing the same. Pulling out her phone and thumbing at the screen as if she had a text, Kara listened in on the conversation between Lena's medical folks. The buzzing in her head made it less than clear.

"I've gotten approval from the company to begin Class Three treatments," the doctor said.

"Is that any surprise given who she is?" Replied Nurse Knight, his voice fairly clear.

Kara had to wonder if that was because he was male and had a louder voice in a lower register.

"This one has been hit-or-miss," Kalia reminded him. "What's the success rate, Queen?"

"Three percent, however, we've been doing some testing and have identified some markers in successful participants that have regrown nerves. We used those markers to choose participants for a new test group and reran the test, though it was a much smaller group," the doctor said. There was a pause while the doctor flipped through Lena's chart.

"Don't leave us hanging here, Doc. What were the results?" Nurse Knight asked.

Kara couldn't agree more. Whatever Lena's test results were, she wanted to know.

"We had a twenty-five percent success rate," the doctor replied.

Kalia sighed heavily. "That's still not good."

"It's better though. Given the prior odds, I'd take those," Nurse Knight said directly at Kalia.

Kalia nodded, then looked back to the doctor. "Has Rook been tested?"

"She has," the doctor said, nodding. "The results were highly encouraging. She was almost a perfect match across the board. She's an ideal candidate. She promised she would be before the testing. She said to always bet on her. I suppose we should start to believe that. That woman just makes things work."

"She's a stubborn bitch is what she is," Nurse Knight said.

"She's very fond of you too, Knight," Kalia said with a smile as she lay a hand on his forearm.

Knight lifted his head, gesturing down the hallway. "The girlfriend is waiting. I imagine she wants to talk to Miss Luthor's doctor. Anything else?"

"I'll provide an update when I have a time for the procedure. We have people flying in and they're securing a facility. We'll have to move her out," Lena's doctor said.

"That won't be easy. Her girlfriend practically lives here," Kalia noted.

"Then we evict her," the doctor said. "I'll go talk to the girlfriend."

As the group broke up and the doctor headed her way, Kara fought the instinct to turn toward the doctor. She stayed on the screen showing a text conversation between her and her sister. She typed a few words, just a check in to let Alex know she made it safely to the hospital. She didn't need to do it, and Alex would find it strange, but the realism would help here.

"Miss Danvers?"

Kara looked up and by the look on the doctor's face, she thought this wasn't the first time the woman had said her name. "I'm sorry. Were you speaking to me?"

The doctor nodded. "I didn't mean to interrupt. Is everything all right?"
