"Well, I feel quite streaked," Rudolf said under his breath just as the R.R.O.A.C.H. shuddered to life beside him on the field. "Damn you Prometheus."
The machine growled and turned its head toward him.
The Victorian-era gentleman turned CIA agent leapt up onto the mechanical beast's back and jumped off, making a break for the viewing stands. Rudolph spotted Karen and some strange man in a suit run up to the President, forcing him to the ground. The pair then turned and began exchanging gunfire with a fast approaching squad of U.N. guards.
Rudolph thought of a plan for the R.R.O.A.C.H. "Karen, get out of there!"
The woman turned at the sound of Rudolph shouting her name. "What!?!!"
"Get...out...of...there!!!"

Karen could see the mechanical monster hot on Rudolph's heels. Her eyes widened when she realized what her husband was intending to do with his pursuer. She looked down at President Riddell. "Get up, we have to go, now!"
The man nodded, and as he began to stand, a man in black riot gear appeared from behind him.
Karen shoved the president to the side and took a shot to the chest, but not before planting a bullet in the center of the would-be assassin's forehead. Both Karen and the dead soldier fell backward to the ground in sync.
"NO!" Rudolph screamed. He ran even harder, barely outpacing the monster behind him.

"Karen? Are you alright?" Gerald inquired over his shoulder...there was no reply and he felt his heart sink, however he knew he could not stop to check on her. His ultimate job was to keep the President safe at all costs including giving up his own life if he had to. The Secret Service agent took out a pair of quickly approaching U.N. thugs before finally taking the butt of a rifle to the back of his head.
President Riddell looked around. He was surrounded by enemies and his protection was gone. He knelt and lifted Karen's body into his arms as tears rolled down his cheeks. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you and now you are dying because of me."
Karen gurgled up blood and tried to speak, but the words were low. She squeezed his hand and pulled him down to her.
Riddell lowered his ear to her mouth and began nodding. He sat up and stared into Karen's closing eyes. He wiped a smudge of dirt from her pretty face and sputtered, "If I live, I promise you, my dear. I will do everything in my power to grant this request for you."
The remaining U.N. soldiers flooded into the observation seating area and drew their weapons on President Riddell where he sat, holding Karen in his arms.
An officer with a commander's rank walked between the collection of men and extracted his pistol from its holster. He fired one time into Riddell's shoulder, sending the President backward, and then squeezed the button on his shoulder mic. "Herr Heinrich, this is Commander Silverman. We have secured the President. I repeat, we have secured the President."
The speaker on the radio squawked, "Excellent. Bring him out on zee field. We vill ready the R.R.O.A.C.H! Soon, the world will see how far this 'Negexis Invasion' has gone..." *Static* "Vait! Someone stop them! No! Stay back!" shouted Heinrich over the communication device and then the radio fell silent.
"Commander!" shouted one of the U.N. soldiers. "Lookout behind you!!!"

Rudolph cleared the barricade and dove through the assembly of U.N. troops with the grace of an American football player attempting a touchdown. The R.R.O.A.C.H. was only centimeters behind him.
