April 29th, 1953 7:45 PM"Please, have a seat, Herr President. I must prepare the presentation," Heinrich said, offering the center seat in a row of white, wooden folding chairs to the Commander in Chief. As the man sat, the Nazi nodded at two men on the far side of the viewing stand. They hurriedly disappeared into the shadows.
"Something's going on," Karen whispered to Rudolf. "Why are we being seated next to the President, especially if they consider us dangerous?"
"Good question. I wish I could provide you with an answer. Have you seen Reggie?"
"Not since they shuffled us out," Karen replied and then turned in her seat to look back toward the rear of the mansion. She sneered at the guard staring back at her with his hand on a pistol. "...and I don't see him coming out with the other guests."
More and more of the partygoers filled the seats in and around the president, Karen, and Rudolf.
"I cannot believe the Secret Service has permitted this," Rudolf said.
Karen eyed Riddell. The politician was clearly unnerved by the activity around him. To her, it was apparent that the Commander in Chief was no more aware of what was going on than they.
"Where the hell is he going?" Karen exclaimed. The action forced the president to turn in his seat.
"That is not very ladylike."
"Says the asshole who calls fascists his friends. How's it working out for you so far, genius?"
"Madam, you are aware of who I am, are you not?"
"Yeah. An asshole who calls fascists his friends," Karen said matter-of-factly. "Did I stutter?"
The president turned in a huff.
"I have never known which of you were going to get me killed first, you or Reggie," Fentz said nervously. "I believe today it may be both of you."
"Whatever, now listen to me, Rudy. Before toolbag here began attempting to give me etiquette lessons on being a lady, I was trying to tell you that I spotted Reggie."
Rudolph lifted his head to look around. "Where?"
Karen pointed out toward the far end of the brilliantly lit field. "Over there, walking toward that platform with a couple of other guys. I couldn't make out who they were. Might've been some other agents."
Rudolph began to stand, but was instantly shoved back down in his seat. "Hey!"
"Excuse me, son," the president said to the NNO agent in black. "I understand this woman has a vile mouth, but there is no need to act aggressively toward either her or her better mannered husband. Are they not welcome guests here like the rest of us?"
The soldier ignored him and the president blinked, returning his attention to the field.
"So, you were able set up the Neutrino Sensors?" Rudolf asked, eying the threatening NNO thug.
"What? Is that what they are calling those things? Neutrino Sensors?" Karen asked. "When I lifted them from the lab, I thought I heard one of the scientists say they were called roach eyes."
"I am referring to the title given them on the blueprints," Rudolf said. He shrugged. "However, I suppose your name makes even more sense."
