I got to the quarry and look down below, I saw the boys and Beverly swimming around. I dropped my bike and took my dress off, leaving myself in my undergarments. I smiled, running, jumping over the edge. My body hit the water.
It felt nice. I came back above the water, pushing my hair off my face.
"Holy shit, you scared me." Richie said.
"Good." I smiled. I swam over as the boys splashed around. "You don't have your glasses on."
"Well, yeah. I'm not supposed to swim with them."
"You didn't let me finish." I said. "You look cute without them."
"Are you saying I'm fucking ugly with them?"
"No, not at all." I said, putting my hand on his cheek. "But you so look nerdy with them on."
He splashed water in my face. I laughed, pushing myself under the water. When I came back up he was staring at me.
"What?"
"Nothing." He said.
I smiled.

Once we were done swimming, we went back up to the top. Beverly laid out a towel and then laid on top of it, sliding sun glasses on. I grabbed my towel, wrapping it around me. I sat on a log, next to Richie. He was slightly shaking.
"You cold?" I asked.
"A little."
"You want to share?"
He looked at me, kind of wide eyed, "Hell yes." He said.
I gave him half of the towel, having to slide closer to him so we could both be comfortable. I looked at him, but he was already staring at me.
"What?" I asked.
"N-Nothing." He said.
I reached for his glasses, unfolding them. I slipped them on his face. Beverly played Bust A Move by Young MC as I continued to look at Richie.
"Why is that all the two of you do?" Stanley said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You s-s-stare at each other." Bill butt in.
"She stares at me."
"You stare back!" I said.
"You stare at each other." Eddie said.
I bit my lip and looked back at Richie, "It's true."
He shrugged, "You're hot."
I laughed, "You ruined it."
"Ruined what?"
"The moment."
"We were having a moment?"
"Oh my god." I said, chuckling.
He put his arm around me, "We'll fix the moment."
I shook my head, leaning it on Richie. The other boys stared at Beverly, watching her tan. I watched the boys as they did so. Richie was still looking at me.
After a while Beverly moved her head so she was facing us. I watched as the boys turned away, acting like they hadn't been staring at her.
I rolled my eyes, then looked back at Richie, who was still staring at me. He looked away, and saw Ben's bag. He pulled away from me.
"News flash Ben, school's out for summa." He said in a stupid, wanna-be accent. He dug inside the back pack.
"Oh that, that's not school stuff." Ben stated.
Richie pulled out a post card, "Who sent you this?"
"No one." Ben ripped it away.
Richie pulled out a folder, "What's with the history project?"
"Oh, well, when I first moved here, I really didn't have anyone to hang out with so I just started spending time in the library."
"Sounds nice." I said.
"The library?" Richie asked. "Lame."
"I wanna see." Beverly stood, walking over. She sat next to Bill. I watched as he checked her out, looking at her hair. Which she'd cut in the last twenty-four hours.
Ben explained stuff to Richie as I stood, throwing the towel to the side. Richie looked over at me as I sat back down next to him.
"Y-y-y-y-your hair..." Bill started.
"Your hair looks beautiful, Beverly."
"Cat fight." I whispered to Richie.
"True shit." He said.
Beverly thanked him as extended my legs, crossing my ankles.
"Here, pass it." Richie held his hand out for the folder. He opened it up.
"Why's it all murders and missing kids?" I asked.
"Derry's not like any town I've ever been in before. They did a study once and it turns out people die or disappear six times the national average."
"You read that?" Beverly asked.
"This fucked up town is actually known for this shit?" I asked.
"That's just grown ups, kids are worse." Ben stated. "Way, way worse. I've got more stuff if you want to see it."
Eddie shook his head.
"Hell yeah we want to see it." I said.
