After I took a shower, I got dressed in a pastel, baby blue shirt. I put on skinny jeans and some black, ankle high boots. I fixed my hair and walked into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and walked out. Jack walked out of his room.
"Hey kiddo."
"Have they found mom yet?" I asked.
"No, nothing yet."
I nodded.
"You want pancakes?"
"You burn them." I said.
"So cereal it it."
I laughed as we both ran down the stairs.
"Were you okay over at Richie's house last night?"
"Yeah, just a bit surprised you let me stay." I said.
"Well, he seems like a good kid."
I laughed, "Richie? A good kid?"
"What? Did something happen?"
"Last night? No."
"Good, he slept on the floor, right?"
"He slept all the way downstairs." I told Jack as he got out a bowl and cereal.
"Really? I told him he could sleep in the room, just not on the bed with you."
"The couch was probably more comfortable."
"That could be it." He said, pouring the cereal in the bowl. "Also, I have a meeting tonight, won't be home until late."
"Okay."
"Don't stay out too late tonight."
"Got it." I said, taking the bowl from him, grabbing the milk. I poured it over my fruit loops and sat down. Jack handed m a spoon and I scarfed down the food. I set the dishes in the sink and grabbed my bag. Alec ran down the stairs.
"Hey, do you want a ride to school?"
"Are you going to give my friends a ride?"
"No."
"I'll take my bike." I smiled and walked out, picking up my bike. The boys were walking across the street.
"You s-s-s-slept over at R-Richie's house?" Bill spit out.
"Good morning, and yes."
"What happened?" Stanley asked.
"Oh my god, nothing. I just fell asleep. He slept on the couch."
I saw Richie run out of his house, "I'm starting to think you like Sadie better than me."
"We do." They said in unison.
I laughed.
"Fuckers." He mumbled.
We walked with our bikes, down the road.
"My step dad is going to a meeting today, so I can hang out with you guys." I said.
"Well, yesterday while you were asleep. On my bed." Richie said. "We were talking about the disappearances."
"They still haven't found my mom."
"G-G-Georgie has been g-g-g-gone longer." Bill told me.
"Sorry." I said, looking down.
We got to the school. Stan went to his classroom as we went to ours. We sat down and Richie turned to me.
"Seeing you in my bed last night was not a bad sight."
