We got the boy out of the water and got our bikes. We started to ride back into town so we could get him patched up. I rode next to Richie. We were in front of everyone else.

I was quiet, watching ahead. Richie looked over at me.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine."

"You don't seem so fine." He said.

"I am." I said.

We got into town and listened as Eddie ranted about AIDS and whatever else. I didn't really care. The kid was bleeding all over, looked like he was dying.

We turned the corner, into a somewhat alley way. Eddie continued to scream as we got the kid off of Bill's bike and onto a crate.

"Richie wait here. Come on." Bill said. He started running with Stan and Eddie.

"You can go." Richie said.

"I'd rather stay." I said, looking at him through his glasses.

It fell silent between us, until Richie looked at the kid.

"Glad I got to meet you before you died." He said. The kid looked up at him. I bit my lip so I didn't laugh.

I sat on one of the other crates. Richie sat next to me. I laid my head on his shoulder. I shut my eyes.

"Are you seriously fucking tired?" He asked.

I looked up at him, "Shut up. It's been a long day!"

The boys came running around the corner. They glanced at my head on Richie's shoulder. I sat up straight, clearing my throat.

"You guys get the stuff?" I asked.

"Yeah." Eddie stated. He started patching up the boy as Richie threw useless suggestions at him. I sat, watching as it played out.

"Shut up, I need to focus." Eddie said.

"You need to focus?" Richie asked.

"Yeah, will you go get me something?"

"What do you need?"

"Go get my bifocals, they're in my second fanny pack."

"Why do you have two fanny packs?" Stanley asked.

"I need to focus right now, and it's a long story."

"Who cares why he has two, just let him be." I said.

"Oh god, he's bleeding." Stanley said.

"No shit." I said. "He was stabbed."

"You have to suck the wound before you apply bandages." Richie said. "It's basic."

"Richie, you're literally not helping." I said.

"Are you okay? That looks like it hurts!" A girls voice said.

We all looked over and saw Beverly Marsh.

"No, I'm good. I just fell."

"Yeah, right into Henry Bowers."

I hit Richie in the stomach, he grabbed my wrist and looked at me.

"Shut R-R-R-Richie." Bill said.

"Why? It's the truth." He said as I pulled my wrist out of his grip.

"You sure they got "the right stuff" to fix you up?"

"You know w-w-w-w-we'll take care of him." Bill said. "Thanks again Beverly."

"Sure, maybe I'll see you around."

"Yeah, we were maybe thinking about going to the q-q-q-quarry tomorrow. If you wanna..."

"Good to know, thanks." She walked away as I looked up to Richie.

"Nice going, bringing up Bowers in front of her." Stanley said.

"Yeah, did you hear what she did?"

"What'd she do?" Me and the bleeding kid asked.

"More what who'd she do. I heard the list is longer than my wang." Richie said, grabbing himself.

"That's not saying much." Stan said.

"They're j-j-just rumors."

"Anyway, Bill had her back in third grade. They kissed in the school play. The reviews said you can't fake that kind of passion. Now pip pip and tally-ho my good fellows. I do believe this chap requires our utmost attention. Get in there Dr.K and fix him up!" Richie said.

"Why don't you shut the fuck up Einstein, because I know what I'm doing and I don't want you doing the British guy."

"You really are annoying as hell." I shook my head.

"Didn't seem that way earlier." He winked at me. I narrowed my eyes.
