August finally came around and I still hadn't talked to anyone. I helped Jack out with his business. I went swimming with Alec sometimes. Just kind of hung around really. I read all of my books again.

I was sitting on the couch, minding my own business as I watched the tv. Jack was in his office with a client as my brother hung out upstairs.

The door to the office opened as Jack walked out with his client.

"See you next week Ms. Jackson." Jack said.

She walked out of the house, "You hungry?"

"A little."

"I'll make grilled cheese." He said.

I walked to the kitchen with him as he got a pan out. He got the bread and cheese and started cooking it. I watched as he made them, adding the cheese on top.

It was a comfortable silence between us. I know Jack wasn't my real father, and he knew that too. That's why he acted more like a friend than a father. I was okay with that. Six years ago when my mom told us she was marrying him I was confused, but now I see it was the right choice.

The silence was broken by the sound of the doorbell. I got up and opened it. Outside I saw Richie, Bill, Eddie, Mike and Ben.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"We have to go." Eddie said.

"What?"

Richie grabbed my arm, pulling me out of the house as he closed the door.

"IT got Beverly." Bill said. "W-We have to help her."

"The same IT that almost killed Eddie last time?" I asked.

"That's the one." Richie said.

"Give me a second to make up an excuse for Jack." I said and walked back into the house.

"Who was it?"

"My friends." I told him. "I have to go."

"What about your grilled cheese?"

"I'll eat later." I said. "But it's important and I have to go now."

"Okay, be safe!"

I walked out of the house to the boys, "Lets go."

I grabbed my bike and hopped on. Bill took the lead down the street and we all followed him. We crossed town to the Neilbolt house. I dropped my bike and stood, staring at the house.

Bill started walking towards the house, "Guys, Spikes."

Eddie took off his fanny pack that had hills pills and inhaler inside. He chucked it across the weeded yard. The boys got their weapons ready. I watched Richie as he picked up an empty beer bottle. He hit it against the wood, then held up the part of the bottle that was left. Which wasn't much, just the neck. He tossed it to the side as I crossed my arms.

"Y-y-you guys ready?"

All the guys nodded, then looked at me.

"You really think I'm going to let you losers in there by yourself?" I asked, showing a smile.

"Lets go." Bill said.

He walked up the stairs. Ben and Mike after him. Richie looked at me and I walked over to him, up the stairs behind Bill. He pushed open the door and we walked in.

"Stan?" Ben asked. We all turned.

"Stan, we all have to go." Bill said. "B-B-Beverly was right. If we split up like last time, that clown will kill us, one by one, but if we stick t-together, all of us... we'll win. I promise."

Stan stepped forward, into the house. Bill started walking again. Richie and I followed. We walked down the stairs, to the basement area. We walked into the room with the well.

"Hey, Eddie, you got a quarter?" Richie asked.

"I wouldn't want to make a wish in that fucking thing." Eddie replied.

"Beverly!" Ben yelled. It echoed.

"How are we supposed to get down there?" Mike asked.

I turned, looking around the room. My eyes landed on a rope. I ran over and picked up.

"With this." I said.
