We got to Eddie's house, getting his mom's attention. She was furious, as any caring parent would be.

"You, you did this." She scolded us. "You know how delicate he is."

"We were attacked, m-m-misses K." Bill told her.

"Don't try and blame anyone else." She said, shoving her son in the front seat. She dropped her keys. Beverly bent down to get them for her. "Get back!" She yelled. "Oh, I've heard of you Miss Marsh and I don't want a dirty girl like you touching my Eddie."

"Mrs. K, I s-s-swear..." Bill started.

"No! You are all monsters, all of you. Now Eddie's done with you, you hear, done!"

She hurried around the car, getting in. She drove off in a hurry. We walked into the street, watching as she drove off with Eddie.

"I saw the well." Bill said. "W-w-w-we know where it is and next time we'll be better prepared."

"No!" Stanley said. "There is no next time Bill. You're insane."

"Why? We all know nobody else is going to do anything." Beverly added.

"Eddie was nearly killed!" He said and turned towards Ben. "And look at this motherfucker, he's leaking hamburger helper!"

"We can't pretend it's going to go away. Ben, you said yourself it comes back every twenty-seven years." Bev stated.

"Fine! I'll be forty and far away from here!" He said. "I thought you said you wanted to get out of this town too."

"Because I want to run towards something, not away."

"I'm sorry who invited Molly Ringwald into the group?" Richie asked.

Beverly flipped him off.

"Richie..." I said.

"I'm just saying, lets face facts, real world, Georgie is dead, stop trying to get us killed too." He said.

"Georgie's not dead." Bill said.

"Maybe he is." I said. "Maybe my mom is too. I'm sorry, I'm going home."

I turned, grabbing my bike. I got on and rode away from them. My house was only a couple streets away so I petalled hard. I got there fast and saw my aunt's car and Alec's. I dropped my bike in the grass, running to the door.

When I got inside, My aunt was sitting on the couch, watching the tv.

"Hey, you've been gone awhile."

"Where's my brother?" I asked.

"Upstairs." She replied.

I ran up the stairs, bursting through his door. He was laying on his bed, reading a book.

"Sadie." He said. "Are you okay?"

I nodded, "I just needed to make sure you were okay."

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Long story." I shook my head, walking out. I went into my room, sitting at my desk in front of my window. I stared out, at Richie's house.

After another thirty minutes I saw him ride up, dropping his bike. He looked over his shoulder at my house. His eyes traveled up to my window. He saw me and I waved. He waved back, then walked into his house.

I smiled slightly, hoping he'd come back out. But he never did. I got up from the seat and walked downstairs. My aunt was still on the couch. I walked to the door.

"You going out with those boys again?" She asked.

"No, I'm not sure I ever will again." I told her. "I'm going to get a chocolate bar."

"Will you get me one too hun?" She asked. "I have money in my bag in the guest room."

I nodded, walking down the hall to the guest room. I pushed the door open and saw her bag. I opened it and grabbed money. I walked back out and to the door.

"I'll be home soon." I said, I walked out to my bike. I looked up at Richie's house, but got on the bike. I gave myself a push with my foot and started riding into town. I got to the drug store and dropped my bike outside.

I grabbed two chocolate bars and paid for them. When I walked outside I saw Mike riding his bike on the opposite street. He nodded at me as I smiled. I guess it was better this way.

Knowing each other, but not talking. I mean, I didn't want any friends in the first place. I like to be alone, it was better suited for me. That's how it was down in Florida. I had friends, but very few and we only talked at school.

I picked up my bike, setting the chocolate in the basket. I pushed it down the street, getting tired of riding it. I looked at all the shops as I passed by.

Once I arrived home, Richie was sitting on the curb in front of his house. He saw me and stood, crossing the street to me.

"Sadie." He said.

"Hi." I said.

"I just wanted to talk to you about the fucked up things I said."

"Look, maybe my mom is dead." I said. "I'm ready to accept that."

"What if she's not?"

"Well I don't think she'd appreciate me risking my life to save her." I told him. "I have to go."

I dropped my bike and walked up to the door, I turned back to Richie.

"Have a good summer Rich, you deserve it." I said and walked inside.

"You're back." My aunt smiled. I handed her the chocolate bar and went upstairs to my room. I sat at my desk again, leaving the chocolate in front of me.
