A week later and I still hadn't talked to the boys or Beverly. I saw Richie outside a lot, I just never went out with him. My aunt had left and Jack was back. He was working on all his watches, he pratically had a business right in our house. People came over a lot to pay him to fix their watch.
It was kind of nice, seeing him doing what he loved while helping others. So when the doorbell rang that afternoon, I didn't think much of it. It was probably one of his customers.
"I'll get it!" I yelled, walking to the door. I opened it and saw Eddie and his mom.
"H-Hey." I said.
"We're here for Mr. Jack Brooks." His mom said.
"Follow me." I said, letting them in. I shut the door and walked down the hall to Jack's office.
Eddie's mom walked in, "Eddie Bear, stay out here."
He nodded as she shut the door. We made eye contact. It was silent.
"Would you like some water?" I asked.
"No." He said.
"You can take a seat in the living room if you'd like." I said.
"Okay." He said and walked down the hall. I followed and watch as he sat on the couch.
"Have you talked to any of them?" I asked.
He shook his head, "It's surprising my mom even let me come with her to this. Have you?"
"No." I said.
"Not even Richie?"
"Not even Richie." I said.
"Wow."
I was about to ask why when his mom walked out of the office
"Lets go Eddie." She said.
"Bye Eds, Bye Mrs.K." I said as they walked out of the house.
Jack walked out of his office, "Hey kiddo."
"Hey." I said.
"You okay?"
I nodded, "Can I go get a candy bar?" I asked.
"Sure." He said and reached in his pocket, pulling out money. He handed it to me. "Get me something too."
I nodded and walked out. I saw Richie walk out of his house at the same time. We made eye contact and I waved. I grabbed my bike, hopping on. I started down the street, into town. When I reached the drug store I went in and bought two candy bars.
I walked out and saw Richie had followed me. He was across the street. I ignored him and got on my bike. I rode down the street and rode to my house. I dropped my bike, walking into the house. Jack walked out of the kitchen and I tossed the candy bar to him. I ran up the stairs to my room. I looked out my window and saw Richie again.
Was he watching me? He waved and I shut my curtains. I grabbed one of my books and laid on my bed.
