Frosted Lips

"Haha!" I laughed to myself, throwing a snowball at Serena.

She yelped and covered her face with her bulky pastel pink mittens right before the snowball hit her side, creating a firework of white beside her.

"Hey!" She screamed, pulling her hands back to her sides, her cheeks red like cherry blossoms.

I grinned.

She knelt down, collecting a large amount of snow from underneath her.

She mumbled under her breathe, "Gosh darn it-" the apparent snowball she was making was failing underneath her woven fingers.

Shortly after this expression of short tempered anger she tugged at her mittens and grabbed the snow with her bare hands, helping her form a better snowball.

For a moment, I was confused, screaming, "Now why in the hell would you take your gloves off!?" but then soon realized the trouble I was in.

When she stood back up as I watched her hair hit the sides of her face, she got ready to aim and I began to run.

"Ash Ketchum!" I heard her scream behind me.

I chuckled.

I ran passed several warn twigs from the trees all over the environment. I ran passed the trunks of those trees, the bark dark from the moisture of the snow. I remember hearing the snow underneath me crumple from my oversized boots, the sound relating to my friend eating old chips. A part of me wanted to jump into the now, make a snow angel and feel the cold up against my jacket. But I knew I'd regret such an act.

Following my footsteps were Serena's, who tried her best to catch up.

My frozen breathe flew behind me as I was hoping that Serena would be hit in the face with it like dust would when running or driving away.

When I knew I got far enough away from her, I hid behind a tree that had colored itself in a fungi green, dying from the growing cold.

It didn't take long for Serena to come walking into the same area. She cupped her hands and attached them to her cold lips, screaming my name, "Ash!"

I tried my best to hold still and to cause no noise.

I heard her footsteps slowly creep onto the tree I hid behind and I began to worry if she saw the edge of my sleeve or heard the rustling of my pants against the damp bark or-

I heard her sigh right behind the tree I stood next to.

"Ash, come on, I'm not playing around."

That gave me an idea.

When I heard her feet condense the frozen ground beneath her a few times, cueing that she had turned into another direction, I jumped out from behind the tree and yelled a loud "BAH!"

Next thing I knew I saw Serena's feet travel backwards from the scare then bump into a dead log behind her, causing her to drop her snowball and to trip.

I tried my best to prevent the fall by grabbing onto her arm, but that only caused me to go down with her.

The cold air hit my face and soon the feeling of snow ran up to my side.

When I opened my eyes, I remember seeing Serena's azure eyes in return. We stared at each other for a good while before laughing, the cold air surrounding us becoming numb itself.

And that's when we froze again. I went for it.

Pushing my lips onto hers, I felt her frosted lips turn warm. My body naturally turned itself closer to her, my arm wrapping around her waist.

After this kiss, I made sure to move away and look back at her, smiling a bit.

She smiled back.

"I love you, Serena." I said that while my feet were stuck up in the air, leaning on an iceberg of a log.

"I love you, too, Ash." She said this as her feet were up in the air, beginning to toy with my own.

She kicked my boot with her's and a small ounce of snow fell down on top of us.

I was nineteen at the time.

Now I'm twenty-five, a knee bent, leaning onto the floor with a box in the palm of my hand. The box has a ring in it, by the way.

She just said yes.
