Plan A"So when are you gonna go and talk to her?" Clemont's hair bounced as he rested his arms on his knees, making sure his eyes stayed on the person he was talking to.
"Talk to her?" Ash tightened his grip on the edge of his shoe. "I mean, I wasn't exactly planning to."
Clemont closed his eyes while sighing out, "You should."
"But," Ash felt the air fly out of his lungs, "what if she doesn't feel the same way?"
A silly question and thought. Clemont knew this but decided not to bring it up as he was planning for the best.
"If she doesn't feel the same way, you forget about her. Just like any other girl."
"Clemont, it isn't like that. I can't just forget about a girl like Serena. Not to mention our friendship... god, that would ruin me." Ash placed his face into the palms of his hands.
Clemont reached out and placed his own hand on Ash's shoulder. "That's high school... tell you what." He patted his shoulder an extra time. "I'll help you out. With enough time I could make something for you to ask Serena out with."
Ash's muscles tensed. "You could do that for me?... Wait, no. That's a terrible idea."
"Oh, come on. It won't happen this time, I promise!"
"Promise? You said that the last three times you made something for a school project! Now you're not even allowed to have a simple gear with you anymore."
Clemont purses his lips. "Alright, fine. I'll make it for you and we'll see if it works."
"And when it doesn't?"
"Plan B."

"Ash, what in the world are you doing?" Serena followed her lifelong friend, her wrist tangled in his mittened fingers.
"I told you," his breath appeared in front of him, "to Lake Valor."
Took them a few feet, but they finally reached the frozen waters, covered in a few patches of snow at its sides.
She took a step closer to him, almost huddling into him because of the cold. "Ash, what on earth is there to see here?"
He felt his heartbeat race. "The ice, of course." He tried passing Serena a smile.
"Oh." She heaved the air out of her. "That's all?"
"Well, uh..." He trailed off, looking around the place, searching for something.
"If this is it, I want to go back to our original spot." She tugged at his arm, the frost biting roughly at her nose.
After this tug was done, a large sound went off from across the lake. It made both Serena and Ash jump, almost slipping in front of the frozen water in front of them. But when they didn't and they were able to fully ground themselves, they looked up and saw a large paper sign fall down from the sky.
Ash laughed to himself. One of the drones blew up, he thought. But it was for the best. It gave the sign a more dramatic feel to it.
Serena placed a hand over her eyes and read slowly, "Will you... go with me... to the winter da-" The girl stopped along with her heart, her cheeks flushing red.
Ash grinned due to her reaction. He anticipated her answer.
"Ash!" Serena turned around to face the black haired boy, shock painted on her face.
He looked back at her, hands placed behind his back. His smile soon faded. Serena slapped him in the face with her ice cold gloves.
But then she hugged him. So there's a plus.
He'd continue to ask why on earth she slapped him that December until he got an answer one fateful night on a college campus. A kiss, then an answer. That's how it went. "Because I was angry at you for how long you waited to ask me." Though it wasn't the full truth, it would suffice Ash until she added the rest later in a house with two others living inside it. "I couldn't control myself," she laughed. "It was just so random. My body didn't know how to react or what to do- your dad waited too long to ask me, kids."
