Charm

I picked up my suitcase and threw it up into the air so it'd land directly onto my bed, wrinkling the sheets covering it. I felt my exhaustion get to me shortly after, my eyes becoming limp with each blink.

Tomorrow was the day of my first performance in Kanto. It continued to boggle my mind from time to time when it'd pop up into my head and force me to pay attention to it. Kanto.

I went to bed after getting my pajamas out of my suitcase and turning off the hotel room's lights that were decorated with fake pine needles, only torturing me a bit more on my performance tomorrow.

"Wait, hold on. Just earlier you said you wanted me to wear this-" another layer of clothing was shoved into my hands. "This, um, the Santa looking outfit or something."

"Yeah, but plans changed." The producer began to walk away, adjusting his earpiece. "Now get dress we only have ten minutes before we're live."

Ten minutes and they wanted me to get dressed in this gigantic dress? Of all the things the Christmas season could have done or given me, it chose me as the one to put up with something like this. I began to worry for my Pokémon.

When I went out on the stage, a bright light shone on my face. It was, really, too bright for comfort. I had to go out on the stage squinting in my velvet dress full of glitter and fake frosted roses at the ends. I tried my best to smile. While the show went on, my Pokémon came out in their original outfits. A piece of mistletoe wrapped on Delphox's stick, Pancham's pair of glasses turned into plastic candy canes hanging out at the sides.

When I was done with my performance, I headed back stage, and soon after, to the outskirts of Kanto. I felt my stress begin to fade away then. I needed to get away from the crowd of people- but a random boy ended up crossing my path in the meantime. I was walking down the  sidewalk when I came around behind me. "Serena," he began. "Serena, it's me."

I turned around quickly, hoping that it wasn't another random person that happened to know me. But the first thing I noticed was a red cap, his cheeks marked with the same marking, and his signature grin. Ash Ketchum. My feet froze to the ground. "Ash?" I trailed off.

"Yep." Another smile while pushing up the rim of his hat with his open thumb. "It's been awhile... hasn't it?"

"Yeah..." I stared at him, up and down. Out of curiosity, I looked at his fingers at one of his hands. I was looking for a ring. Made me want to slap myself, not going to lie.

I turned myself all the way around to face him.when I saw him come closer until I could feel the tips of his (still) unbrushed hair graze the side of my cheek. His gloved hands placed themselves at the end of my spine warmly.

"Oh," was all I could get out besides my reddened cheeks and out-of-nowhere hurried breathing.

He released as soon as the hug came. Luckily, I was met with another large grin. "Uh... I saw your concert back there." He reached for the back of his head and ruffled his hair even more. "You did great."

"Thank you," I answered awkwardly, taking a step back. He noticed this and put his hands in the pockets of his jeans.

"I was wondering if you could come over tonight... it'd be at my mom's house, that's where we'll celebrate Christmas... I'm sorry that this is so sudden I just heard about your concert yesterday and... well. Goodness, sorry I can't think right now."

I giggled to myself as I saw his distress. "Sure, Ash."

His smile only grew. "Alright, good. I'll walk you there later... meet up in the same spot here?"

"Sure," I beamed, looking around my surroundings and noting the one large streetlight.

"Great." He gave me another quick hug and ran off in the direction behind me, his gloveless fingers holding down his cap.

We met up later that night in the same spot. He came back wearing a scarf this time, placed around his neck nicely since it was colder during the night time. Strangely enough, he was almost like the Ash I remember. He took my hand giddily and almost immediately began to drag me towards where he ran before, causing me to scream a bit at the start.

I spent the rest of the night getting to know Ash's mom, getting to see Ash's Pokémon again at Professor Oak's place, and got to see Ash again... only a little bit older. The good news is, his Pokémon seemed to like me. Along with his mother and Professor Oak. But the more I began to stupidly Ash, the more I began to notice that I wasn't as oblivious as him. Was it the kiss before I left? Maybe just age.

He had a crush on me. I guess the charm in that got me to grow another crush on him, too.
