Okay, first of all, Who remembers Room of Mirrors? Forget that please.
I know most of my stuff on here is well...not exactly perfect.
But trust me please.1) THE TRICK TO WRITING IS NOT WRITING IN THE SAME PLACE EVERY TIME
I write everywhere really, on the bus, during lunch, I switch tabs on my computer during school just to write.
The real trick to doing anything creative, is What If?
For WHO STOLE THE HAIRSPRAY: What if Nikki's hairspray was stolen?
For We Wish you A Merry Thanksgiving: What if everything went horribly wrong on Thanksgiving?
For my never to be published series: What if Mick and Nikki were from a different dimension?
See what I'm trying to say here?
But if you want to write in the same place every day, go for it.2) Describe.
He woke up surrounded in darkness. He grabbed around for the string on the lamp. His hand brushed against the lace, but he froze upon hearing a tap from his window.
A figure stood at his window, tapping the cold glass repeatingly.
Don't just state an action.
Elaborate a little.
I pressed play. Holy crap this song is amazing.
Or
I pressed play, unprepared. As soon as it started, cold chills ran up my body. The singer's voice surrounded me on all sides, as if he were talking to me. The song lifted me off my feet and transported me to a different realm.See what I mean.
3) Speak it aloud
If you're writing in 1st Person, speak it aloud.
And if you're like me and you write in 3rd person, speak your dialogue.
And if you're really like me, do different voices, act it out, laugh at yourself.
Like, do you not know how fun it is to imitate Axl?4) Emotions
With no control over his actions or words, He put his hands on her cheeks and blurted, "I think I love you."
She was much too focused on his lips, "Me—Me too."
Their lips met in a firework show of emotions.
Finally.
The girl he'd loved for so long. Kissing him. Of all people. That was actually the first love scene I've ever written.
I was listening to music that was sad but also happy.
Do whatever it takes to make you feel the same way your main character does.
Look up sad piano music, listen to the saddest power ballads you know, DO SOMETHING. ANYTHING.5) Planning
I don't plan, so I can't help ya there.
What I do is, I call them visions, whenever I get one, let's say I see a flash of someone n the floor sobbing. I can either let it go, or I can grab onto it. It's up to me to write the story behind it. I pull the strings. It's my job to decide what happens next.
Right before I fall asleep the vision is what I'm thinking of. I'm deciding for the character. Any time I stare daydreaming, that's what I'm doing. Then I actually write it.6) Have fun.
Make sure you're having fun. Don't force yourself to write.
If you're trying to be funny, use what ever's funny to you.
If you wanna write a love story, go for it
Just write whatever makes you happy.
Whatever makes you feel proud of yourself.
Go for it!
And don't worry about what other people think. A lot of times I'm worried somebody's gonna hate it, or I'm gonna offend someone somehow. That's a waste of time.I hope I somehow helped.
