Liam paced back and forth in their bedroom and Lani laid comfortably in the bed. They were waiting for two of their best enforncers and beta to bring back the buried bodies of Rileys wife and daughter; Jenny and Bonnie Green. It had been hours since they had last talked to them and they had yet to return.
"Maybe they can't find them?" Lani asked to break the silence. Liam looked at her and gave her a tight smile.
"I can't reach them, love." Liam loved each and every member of his pack. They are his family. Lani did not like seeing him in distress.
"Let me search for them." she said. She knew it would take a lot of strength and energy but she was willing to do it for them. For Liam. Liam looked at her, he didn't want her wasting energy and strength she might need for the baby, but he needed to make sure his men are okay. So he nodded his head and held her hands as she closed her eyes and stretched her mind out. Lani searched for the bright white lifelines that led to the men. It took her a while to find them in what looked like a field of billions of lifelines, but as soon as she did she followed them carefully. In this state it would be too easy for her to lose the lifeline and be led in the wrong direction. Then anyone on the other end would know exactly where she was. And those things could either be good or bad.
Lani spent what felt like a lifetime following the bright lines carefully until she was close to the end. Suddenly she felt as if she was being repelled from the light. She struggled to get closer even if she felt her body taking in labored breaths. She moved closer and closer before she was suddenly and roughly back in her body.
"Dammit." Lani cursed and she struggled for air and grabbed at her cramping belly. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths while Liam rubbed her back and patiently waited for her to say something.
"Leilani tell me if youu found them." Liam said worriedly after too much silence. Lani looked up at him and nodded her head. She kept her hand protectively over her belly as she tried to relax. The energy nearly all gone from her body.
"They found the bodies, but the place-which looks like a huge tomb of a building near the mountains- seems to be guarded by a witches spell to keep anyone away. I don't know how they managed to get in. They should be out as soon as they get the bodies." Liam moved closer to her and touched her forehead.
"Thank you. You feel a little hot. Why don't you take a shower to cool down while I go get you something to eat." Lani nodded knowing he was telling her not suggesting. She got up amd wobbled to the bathroom where she took a quick cool shower.
Lani came out only a few minutes later. Liam was waiting for her on the bed with a tray of different snack on the bed. Lani grabbed the fruit and satly chips and started munching away.
"Feeling better?" Liam asked amd Leilani was nodding before he even finished his question.
"Liam. They need to be careful. Witches aren't meant to be taken lightly. They can be very powerful." she said and Liam sighed heavily.
"I know, love." he grabbed her hand in his and smiled a small smile. And they waited anxiously for their men to arrive.
About two hours later the men finally arrived and Liam rushed into the living room to meet them. They were all covered in dirt as they carried two bodies wrapped in purple blankets of silk cloth that were also covered in dirt. They prepared to put the bodies carefully on the ground when Leilani stopped them.
"No, please take them down to the basement. I have prepared it for the ceremony already." they nodded at her before making their way downstairs. The only light source down there were candles that covered every counter or tabletop along with a few spaces on the floor. In the middle of the room there was what looked like an alter. It was surrounded by a small circle of incense and candles. Lani nodded her head for the men to lay the bodies there. They carefully laid the bodies down and headed out towards the door.
"Thank you." she said to the men as she shook each of their hands and restored their strength. They each thanked her and emptied the room. Riley hesitantly walked into the low lit room and stared at the bundles on top of the alter. Lani noticed his lip quiver the tiniest bit before she rested her hand on his arm.
"We should get started." he took a deep breath before nodding his head at her.
"I need you to kneel down here and don't move. If you do this won't work. It will get painful at some point but you should not move." Lani let him kneel down at the heads of the bodies of his family. She grabbed his hands and made a quick small cut before placing each one on the foreheads of his daughter and wife. Riley took a deep breath as he shook his head.
"Just breath through it." she murmured softly and he nodded. Lani walked to the other end and slowly got on her knees before grabbing onto an anlkle of each of the bodies.
"Lani. Be careful." Liam said to her and she smiled up at him. She nodded her head before blowing him a kiss. She knew he knew what she was doing. She wouldn't get hurt.
Lani closed her eyes and focused on her breathing as she relaxed and let her powers flow through her. She started to softly chant. She swayed a little from side to side as her powers flowed stronger. She heard Riley take a deep breath as he felt her power finally come in contact with his skin. It hurt for anyone but her. To others it would feel like fire, like their skin was blistering.
"Goddess hear my plea." Lani whispered softly before continuing her chant stronger than before. She chanted and chanted. Asking her goddess for the energy and life of these two creature of hers that were wronged. Two creatures that deserved the life they did not get to fully live. She asked for her to heal Riley of a pain he had not earned. He asked for the life he had not been ready to let go of. The life he still mourned for. She asked for his forgiveness and for her own. And when she finally felt the stinging pain that was her Goddess' powers flowing through her, Lani let out a small scream.
"Don't let go!" she shouted at Riley as the wind increased in strength around them, pushing them around. She heard Riley's grunts of pain as the powers pushed and burned at his skin. Lani opened her eyes and raised her hands high. Everything around them seem to come to a stop as she whispered softly to Riley's loved ones.
'Come home. Come to your family. We will protect you. We will love you. You will never be hurt again.' Leilani promised them. As she felt their souls making their way nack to their bodies Lani smiled successfully as the wind came back full force. She chanted her thanks to the goddes as well as promising her that she would spend her life doing right by her. By promising to take care of her children.
Lani brougt her powers slowly back into the tight reign she held them on as she opened her eyes. She kept chanring softer and softer as she finally gained control of her powers once again. Riley was breathing heavily, his eyes shut tightly as he held his hands against the foreheads of his family.
"Riley, you must open your eyes." Leilani told him after a while. Riley shook his head before he finally complied. He opened his eyes and looked down at where his family lay.
"It didn't work!" he whisper growled.
"Pull the blanket off." Lani instructed calmly. He hesitantly listened to her and revealed the beautiful faces of his wife and daughter. They looked alike. The same dark curly hair. Pink lips. Porcelain skin. He gently touched his fingertips to his wifes cheek and gasped loudly.
"She's warm." he whisepered.
"They're alive." Lani said.
"Thank you." Riley laughed as he touched the faces of his loved ones.
"No. Thank you." Lani smiled as she softly rubbed her belly. Liam came up behind her, put his hands under her arms and pulled her up to a standing position.
"You are wonderful and amazing." he softly whispered in her ear and she smiled back at him. She took in a sharp breath as her belly cramped.
"What's wrong?" Liam asked and she put his hand against her belly. He felt it tightened as she took another deep breath and then their child kicked at his hand. Lani laughed and rubbed gently at her belly.
"I think our boy is coming soon." she whispered softly. Liam's face showed a variety of emotions as he stared at her then down at her belly. She felt his strong dislike of that idea. He did not want their child to arrive when there was danger around. If it were up to him he would just find each and every one of the men who hurt her and kill them all. But he knew that wouldn't make a difference. The mens' families would just come after.
