Save Me

Chapter 5

Authors Note (IMPORTANT): A few weeks have passed since Leilani first arrived. She's doing good in school and having lots of fun. She met all of Liam's family and most of the pack. They've learned a lot about each other. Only their little crowd of friends know that she's a moon child. Most people believe she's human. She officially moved into Liam's house closer to the pack. They have a little problem with some girls that want Liam but they deal with it. Liam is still protective and sometimes very bossy. Fang makes regular visits (Liam's wolf:). She also learned how Liam is now the owner of Haven Enterprises, which is a very, very rich company. They have their fingers in everything and anything. Liam is still the only person who can touch her. She can touch others to an extent (shaking hands, a pat in the back, etc.). She has times when she's very depressed, but gets through it with Liam and Fang. It's now October (it was August in the beginning).

Liam's POV

Liam was beyond worry. Lani had been sick these past few days and she only seemed to be getting worse. She was in bed now, shivering and pale after a bout of vicious puking.

He laid down next to her as he waited for the pack doctor, Dr. Alexi Frost, to arrive. He had called to her a few minutes ago. He pushed Lani's damp curls off her forehead and kissed her temple. She grabbed his hand and held it to her trembling form.

'Do something!' Fang growled at him.

'What?! I already called Dr. Frost! I don't know what's wrong.' Liam said a little to harshly. Fang whimpered as he paced in frustration. He wanted his mate healthy.

There was a knock on the door before Dr. Alexi Frost walked in. She was a tall, elderly woman. She had her white hair tied back in a tight bun. Her eyes crinkled in concern.

"What's been going on?" Dr. Frost asked as she came close to the bed. Liam moved a little as Lani kept her eyes closed and a tight hold on his hand.

"She's been like this for the past few days. She's been puking too, and sometimes she has a little fever." Dr. Frost furrowed her eyebrows as she studied Lani. She reached out to touch her and Lani curled into herself, whimpering. Liam growled and pulled Lani to him, she immediately relaxed.

"Liam if I can't touch her I can't tell you what's wrong." Dr. Frost said.

"I know, it's just...I can't stand her being afraid." Liam said to the doctor as he said soothing words into Lani's mind, asking her to let the doctor check her out. Lani finally nodded and Liam nodded at the doctor.

"Leilani, my name is Dr. Alexi Frost. I'm going to feel under your chin and then around your abdomen, okay?" Lani nodded and the doctor began her work.

Dr. Frost sighed and walked to her black magical bag. She pulled out a small packet of powder, emptied it into a bottle of water she had and handed it to Lani.

"Here, sweetheart, this should make you feel better." Lani took it and slowly drank most of it down. Liam took the bottle from her as her body relaxed and she fell asleep. He turned to the doctor and raised his eyebrow in question.

"We'll, I have good news and bad news. What do you want first?" He wanted to growl at that insane question.

"Just tell me what's going on." He said softly. The doctor busied herself with her med bad as she answered him.

"She's pregnant. She's healthy, but her body is having some difficulty adjusting to it from what I can tell. She should be fine after what I gave her. Her being human should make this easy enough. There shouldn't be any problems, but contact me immediately if there is. Congratulations, Alpha." Dr. Frost smiled at him and patted his back before leaving his room.
