"listen eds you'll always have me." richie tried comforting the much smaller boy as they entered their junior year of highschool together. eddie had started every school year the same way, anxious and unprepared. thankfully the boy always had his best friend to comfort him, as he did through everything. "plus you know ever kid in this school is afraid of me." eddie laughed at his joke, eddie knew that wasn't true.

eddie, richie and their friends were always looked at as losers and that would never change for them. "oh yeah then why am i with you right now?" eddie questioned.

"cause you just can't resist me, kiddo." eddie rolled his eyes.

"oh that sounds accurate." eddie and richie walked toward their friend's locker to greet him.

"stan the man!" richie said enthusiastically raising his hand expecting a high-five.

"hey eddie." stanley said. "...richie." he completed much to richie's disappointment.

"you know the whole asshole trait is working good on the ladies stan, where's your girlfriend again?" richie's rebuttal impressed close to no one, that is with the exception of himself. the three heavily trudged through the hallways seeking out their friend bill. he was the only other one they were close with, they had mike and ben of course but they never shared the same bond as the four boys.

as soon as the tall brunette was in sight stanley ran up and jumped on his back, nearly tackling him to the ground in the crowded hall. "jesus! st-s-stanley!" he smiled widely when he faced the curly-haired boy, "and the iconic d-duo."

eddie groaned. "listen here" he said raising his hand dramatically. "i can live without dipshit."

stanley and bill both laughed knowing that wasn't true. "oh sure eds." richie said giving him a knuckle sandwich. "and i'm not nearly blind. now c'mon guys let's check 'em" the four all pulled out their schedules for the year.

"bill and i have first and third together" stanley pointed out.

"i've got third with you guys." eddie added.

"hey stanley check it out we have second, fifth, and seventh together!" richie was already planning all the ways to annoy stanley.

"okay i've got second, fifth, and sixth with richie." eddie concluded.

"i have c-c-chemistry fifth t-too." bill told the duo.

"take a look at that!" richie put all their schedules together. "we all have ms. franklin for study hall fourth period!" richie was far more ecstatic than the rest.

"i guess we should all get going now." stanley said. "see you guys!" bill and stanley head down the hall together.

the four didn't all see each other again until fourth period. they had learned that ms. franklin was intolerable and they would have a terrible year with her.

when school was out the boys all met each other on the stairs of the building meeting at the bike rack where they all undid their chain locks. "so who's house are we going to today?" eddie asked.

"w-what ab-bout richie's?" bill suggested.

"no today, my parents are home." he denied bill's request.

"what's wrong rich? don't wanna be seen with your mother?" eddie turned the tables now teasing richie.

"you're one to talk mamma's boy." richie knew eddie hated his bond with his mother being pointed out.

"so it's settled billy, your house is the location." they all unhooked their bikes and took the shortcut across kissing bridge and straight onto costello avenue which shortly led to witcham street, the street bill lived on.

everyone dropped their bikes on the yard except for stan who was sure to put the kickstand up. "c'mon weirdo, don't wanna be left behind." richie called out, being the last into bill's house waiting for stanley.

the door shut loudly behind the two as they ran up the stairs past all the bedrooms and into bill's where eddie and bill were already playfully bickering.

richie covered eddie's ears as he spoke to bill. "hey dipshit you know the child is vulnerable." eddie smacked richie in the face hearing every word he spoke.

"today sucked." eddie sighed.

"oh save it eds its gonna be the only time in a while that you're gonna have good grades." richie always had that if anything, he was smart.

"oh shut up trashmouth it takes more than a good mark to get you through life." stanley and bill sat on bill's bed while richie and eddie were on the floor leaning against it.

"oh you think that spaghetti but as long i got you i think i'm set." richie couldn't leave it at that compliment so he impulsively finished, "your overthoughful self will fix my problems."
