eddie couldn't stop thinking about the words richie spoke last night. he adores me? eddie thought to himself. do i adore him? eddie knew he was close with richie. every time the thought ever came to his mind he would just forget about it.

sometimes eddie wished he had never let it get his far. keep his distance and stay bestfriends rather than whatever they were now. what even was it? eddie couldn't remember how things even happened, he guessed it was because richie was attractive. in many ways, he had an approachable personality and he was quite adorable. at least eddie thought so.

throughout the day richie would give eddie sad eyes. he didn't know what it was about. richie couldn't be upset about the things he said last night, could he? he didn't even know that eddie heard him.

eddie was left alone with stanley at a point. "i'm just so confused." eddie said.

"do you like it?" stanley questioned.

"well of course i do." he admitted. "richie makes me feel comfortable and i love the way he makes me feel in my heart, but in my mind it's just confusing."

"you're such a romantic." stanley sighed with a smile. "but if he makes you happy maybe you should just live in the moment. what's the worse that could happen?" stanley was right.

"there's no signs of anything bad happening." richie said.

"see." stanley grinned and took eddie under his arm. "you guys will be fine."

of course now, stanley wished he had taken those words back because in that moment when richie came down the hall closely paired with a girl, who was stunning not to mention, chaos struck between his boy that's a friend.

at the time eddie passed her off as just a friend.

"who is this?" stanley asked knowing that eddie couldn't muster up the strength through astonishment to ask anything.

"this is eli, short for elizabeth." she stood tall, just a few inches shorter than richie so maybe five foot eight inches. she had shoulder length dark brown hair and a slim figure. almost sickly but she still seemed healthy and beautiful. her eyes seemed slightly sunken in, possibly from lack of sleep. it was highschool who wasn't suffering from it. but she was beautiful and that made eddie very immediately cautious of her.

at this point it was needed to be said that eddie was blind of his feelings towards richie, because he still didn't understand why he felt this way towards eli. she seemed kind and genuine yet eddie couldn't find a bit of energy in his body to attempt to know her. "hi." he said almost bluntly.

"hey." she smiled widely and introduced herself. "i'm eli, but richie already said that i guess." she rubbed the back of her neck obviously wanting to make a decent first impression.

"i'm stanley. and this is eddie." eddie let out a light smile when he realized how nervous she was. he even offered his hand to shake and she accepted it.

"you seem okay." eddie didn't like to be mean but he didn't want to be completely nice to this girl.

after this introduction richie even invited eli to sit at their lunch table, she re-did her introduction with bill. eddie wondered why they had never seen this girl before.

"so where are you from?" eddie asked.

she shied away and became small within herself. it was obvious she wasn't to social. "kansas."

everyone nodded then stanley spoke, "so how do you know richie, i mean, if you're from kansas?" stanley shoved a chicken nugget in his mouth and patiently waited for the answer. stanley wasn't usually patient so it was obvious he was off.

"family friends." richie said with energy knowing eli would never muster out the words. everyone just shrugged or nodded acknowledging the answer but not commenting on it.

after lunch stanley called eddie and bill to walk with him leaving richie to walk with eli. "w-why did you n-need us?" bill asked.

"oh i just wanted to walk with you guys no biggie." that's weird. eddie thought to himself.

"looks like r-richie found a girl who w-w-won't tell him to sh-shut up." bill laughed but stanley punched him in the arm. "w-wha-" he stopped himself when stanley glanced over at eddie.

"it's okay guys you don't have to censor yourself." stanley looked at eddie sadly. he never liked seeing him like this.

bill knew eddie liked richie but not as much as stanley knew. even if eddie weren't to tell him stanley would just...know.

after the boys had their chat they went to their separate classes. eddie couldn't keep eli off his mind. the way she showed up was just so suspect.

eddie brushed it off knowing that if richie liked her than she was a good person. eddie trusted richie even if he made him feel things he didn't like too much.
