Chapter. 9

Aaron's POV

I stared into the night as the stars twinkled in delight, because they weren't alone.

Well, I am. Aphmau was my first friend, then came Katelyn and Kawaii Chan and eventually Garroth and Laurance.

A normal wolf would think about how fun tomorrow would be with their friends, but I would never be able to see them again.

It's depressing.

All alone.

No one to be with.

I wish my family allowed me to travel, they only allow Melissa because she is now considered an adult and future Alpha of the pack. I wish I were to be Alpha, but I'll be the beta unless Melissa meets her death.

I really want to close my eyes and forget but I can't stop thinking.

I stand up to take a stretch and walked over close to the entrance to observe the outside.

There were no wolves out as usual. Well, that's a lie, I see a small wolf walking around.

Maybe I should go check it out.

As I was climbing down I start noticing their fur pattern. It's Aphmau! What is she doing here at midnight?

"Hey Aaron." Greets a sleepy Aphmau

"Hey Aphmau, what are you doing here?" I ask

"I..... I couldn't sleep so I decided to take a walk."

"Okay then, its a little too late for that but do whatever you want I guess."

"Hey, Aaron.... can I ask you something?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"What happened while I was knocked out?"

"Well, there was this huge wolf who I'm guessing is an Alpha, he knocked you out and tried taking you."

Aphmau looked startled so I stopped there.

"W-what did he look like....?"

"Oh well...." I stopped and thought. "He had dark brown eyes and black fur with splashes of red."

She held her breath, her eyes filled with fear. She was trembling and looked as though she had seen a ghost.

"N-no.... H-h-how did h-he f-f-f-find us so s-s-soon......" She whimpered.

"Aph, are you oka--"

Before I could finish my sentence she collapses. She probably fainted from shock or something.

The fall startled me, but I knew she was fine so I carried her to her home. I snuck in and placed her next to her mother. I left and went back to my cave.

Why did she freak out about what I said?

The next morning

Aphmau's POV

I opened my eyes to find myself asleep next to my mom. I glared at my mom for about a minute and then came to the realization that I probably moved myself there because I had fallen asleep before she did.

I nudge her head to wake her up.

"Good morning Mom."

"Good morning Mija." She smiles

"What are we going to eat?" I ask
