Heaven or Hell?

Chapter Fifteen:

Everywhere I turn all I see is flashing colours as the vampires fight continuously.

"JACK STOP!" I scream as I manage to scamper onto my feet and take chase after him and Leo. But I'm stopped by a pair of strong arms picking me up and hauling me over their shoulder before taking off at top speed.

"Put me down!" I screech whilst repeatedly hitting my kidnappers back.

"Jeez, Zoey calm down I'm trying to help you!" The man responds, but I recognise his voice as Blake.

"Hold on tight" he adds as he flips me over so that it is like he is giving me a piggy back ride, whilst climbing up a tall tree just like a spider monkey. Where I must admit the view up here is just breath taking.

"Stay here!" He instructs as he makes sure I am safe and secure in this tree.

"Wait where are you going?" I fearfully ask, he can't just expect me to stay here after almost getting killed.

"I got to go and help Aaron he is holding up two vampires by himself, don't worry your mother will be here soon" He answers before jumping out of the tree and taking off at top speed back towards where the battle commences.

So I am left here, alone in the middle of a forest whilst high up in a tree. But what I am struggling to understand is why Leo pinned me to the ground? I thought he was meant to protect me, that's what Jack said.

However, I'm cut off from my thoughts by the sight of my mother rapidly jumping from tree to tree.

"Zoey!" She exclaims as she lands in the tree that I am.

"Mum!" I say whilst doing my best to hug her similar to a scared child would when stuck at least fifty feet up in the air.

"Hush child" She soothes whilst hugging me back tightly, but our moment is quickly ended as someone lands behind my mother.

"Zoey, thank heavens your alright" I hear Ms Coles say as she walks towards us.

"Can I get down now?" I ask beginning to cry.

"Yes, but I must warn you. The boys are still fighting and we're gonna have to go and stop it" Ms Coles warns as I climb on my lm mother's back getting ready to be carried through the forest.

"Okay, lets go sort these boys out" my mother declares as she takes off at top speed with Ms Coles close behind.

We must have ran for numerous of miles, before we finally came to a clearing to where six vampires were fighting viciously.

"Zoey, stay here a minute" My mother instructs, leaving Ms Coles to care for me whilst she goes to stop this miniature battle, although with the amount of blood that is over their faces you would think that they have just came back from war.

"Lets take care of this cut shall we?" Ms Coles says as she takes an anti-infection wipe out of her ruck sack she carries. Only to start wiping the cut on my forehead.

"You must of taken quite a fall, but don't worry I don't think you will need stitches" she says whilst wiping away the blood.

"I was terrified" I admit sheepishly.

"I bet you were, but don't worry. You handled the situation better than you full bred vampire would of if they were newly turned" she praises and gives me a wink and a genuine smile.

"Thanks, shall we go help?" I ask as we look over towards my mother holding Blake back.

"I think we should" She answers as we begin to run towards them.

"Take that back before I rip your head right off of your shoulders!" Blake snarls at one of the men who stands boldly with his arms crossed across his chest.

"What? It's not my fault she was too weak to resist the charms of me, and look where that got her!" The man bites back. However just as Blake breaks free of my mothers grip. I pick up my pace so that just before Blake manages to jump on the vampire, I am in front of him with both hands against his chest to prevent him making the scenario even worse than it already is.

"Get out of the way Zoey!" He growls, but I remain standing. Not for the other vampires sake but for the vulnerable gaze that Blake holds.

However, before I can reply to his instruction my mother and Ms Coles appear either side of me and manage to calm him down, not by much, but just enough to get him to back down.

"Now, Leo what on earth are you playing at?!" My mother demands, giving me a once over as she inspects my injury that has almost completely healed thanks to Ms Coles.

"I challenged Jack" He shrugs.

"Yes! And almost killed my daughter in the process!!" She bites back.

"She wasn't going to be killed!" He argues calmly, although his calm tone sends shivers down my back along with the lustful gaze he keeps focused on me.

"Then explain to me why you tackled her to the ground and pinned her there with two very hungry vampires!" She shouts. However, because she is now practically nose to nose with Leo. Ms Coles has to intervene as it is clearly beginning to get personal.

"Hayley, I will deal with this. Leo until authorised you will be dismissed of your duties!" She calmly states, but Leo's calm posture quickly disappears.

"You can't do that! I'm her soul mate, she needs me, I need her!" He begins to shout, and I take this opportunity to step in.

"Correction, your one of my soul mates. And I believe that a soul mate is suppose to protect their loved one. NOT knock them onto the ground or chase them let alone betray them by sleeping with their best friend!" I argue, making sure to emphasise the word "not"

"We have a child together, that is something you can never forget" He argues back with an intense gaze in his eyes, but by now it is beginning to rain. And like I said days ago, the rain makes you look at everything in a different perspective. Yet, it is also in the rain I feel that I am at my strongest peak.

"Yes we made a child. Yes, you took my innocence. Yes, I love you. But what you fail to acknowledge Leo is that you left me and that child. And you can't even argue that you didn't know because I discovered that vampires could sense my pregnancy. So you knew you got me pregnant, yet you still did it return" I shout, making sure that with every point I make I take a step closer towards him. "But you also played with my heart strings the day you returned, you questioned my loyalty. You chased me in that damn forest and wrestled me to the ground. That isn't love! That is the complete opposite!" I add, although as I finish my words I take a quick glance around. Where I find my mother looking at me proudly with tears in her eyes. Blake and Aaron looking at me with respect, something I had yet to gain from them. And Jack looking at me with dare I say it, love.

"So what are you saying?" Leo questions, as he begins to walk towards me along with his two vampire friends. But Blake, Aaron and Jack are quickly at my side with their arms crossed across their chest looking very intimidating.

"I'm saying, I've made my decision" I answer as I look as Ms Coles and begin explaining. "I asked someone earlier today if it was indeed possible to have two mates. She told me yes and told me from her experience. However, she chose her best friend - but my decision is someone who I use to hate so much for talking badly about my best friend and being the biggest jerk I knew. But then thanks to a drama assignment I got to know him" I say and by the point I have turned my gaze towards Leo before quickly turning it to Jack.

"Jack, I choose you" and that is all I manage to say before I am lifted off the ground in a suffocating hug whilst being spun around a numerous amount of times in a circle.

"You have no idea how happy you have made me" Jack says as he places me back on the ground.

"I think I have some idea" I answer as I lean in for a kiss. But just before our lips touch. A piercing scream is heard from the forest. A scream that I would recognise from anywhere. Becky.
