Everyone goes silent as Becky's scream is heard. We all remain motionless, at least that's everyone besides myself and Aaron.

"BECKY!" I scream in fear as I begin to run as if my life depended on it back into the deadly forest. I know what your all thinking, she slept with Leo the boy who you love. But she is still my best friend and as of now Leo will no longer be the love of my life and I can't believe it has taken almost two years for me to figure out he was never who I thought he was.

"NOO!" I hear Becky shout as I run closer towards where her voice is coming from with Aaron by my side. Why is he with me anyway? The others are only just catching up with us as realisation has just kicked in for them.

However, as I run closer this sensational sweet scent begins to fill my nose. It even smells better than Mother's pancakes and that is saying something.

"Zoey, focus!" I hear Jack say in my head, where its then I noticed that I have began to slow down my running pace. Therefore shaking my head clear of thoughts whilst trying to ignore the delicious overwhelming scent. I run faster than I ever thought was possibly manageable.

But the sight that confronted me when we finally tracked Becky was completely unimaginable.

She laid helplessly on the floor clutching her sliced open stomach with the knife of the scene half a metre away from her. However, whilst my mother, Ms Coles, Jack, Aaron and Blake and even Leo helped her remain concious. I was transfixed on the blood that was goozing out of her. That scent that overwhelmed my nose, it was her blood. I could feel my mouth beginning to feel sore and as I placed my hand over it, I realise that my fangs have sprouted from my gums. What is happening? But rather than questioning my sudden addiction towards my best friend's stomach, I suddenly find myself walking absently minded towards it. Licking my lips uncontrollably in the process.

"ZOEY NO!!" Becky screams, but her desperate pleads go through one hear and out the other. The urge to devour her is just too strong. Until finally her cries for help make Jack acknowledge my state and rapidly move from his position that he was in whilst helping her and picks me up bridal style before running out of the woods, until the delicious smell is completely out of my system.

Suddenly realising what I was about to do, I sink to my knees in guilt as well as feeling disgusted with myself.

"Zoey, look at me" Jack pleads as he sits himself down in front of me.

"I almost drank from my best friend - what kind of person would do that?!" I cry, whilst locking gazes with him. Although, he takes this opportunity to stand myself as well as himself up before embracing me in a hug.

"Someone who has yet to learn how to hunt and feed without killing, come on I will show you" He says placing a soft tender kiss on my forehead.

"I can't, what if I do something wrong" I stutter.

"You won't, and I know that because I will be there every step of the way. Trust me" he answers, and I do. Therefore I allow him to lead me back into the forest but a different route so that the chance of me craving Becky's blood doesn't happen again.

"Right, do you see that hiker?" Jack asks as we watch the young man hike the forest from a tall tree.

"Yeah, I can smell his blood from here" I answer, whilst referring to the diminutive open wound on his upper arm.

"Good, now watch and learn and remember no matter how strong your desire for his blood is. Control it. Don't feel it. Don't let it show" Jack says quoting some words from my favourite Disney film Frozen. Yeah, I forced him to watch it with me one evening.

So I watch and I learn as Jack walks calmly towards the young hiker and starts having a natural conversation with him about the weather, before introducing me as his girlfriend. Although, technically he still hasn't asked me to be his girl friend but I am still new to this whole soul mate thing so I have no clue what we are!

"Nice to meet you" the hiker says, extending his arm with the open wound on towards my hand to shake it. Where my eyes immediately lock with the rosy red blood that is dripping down his arm, but Jack's words play back in my mind "control it" So I do.

"Pleasure is all mine" I answer with the nicest smile I could possibly muster.

"May I ask you a question?" Jack asks the man.

"Sure" he answers.

"Does my breath smell?" And with that Jack breathes in the man's face making him fall unconscious to the ground.

"Is he hurt?" I question in fear.

"No, he is sleeping and will not feel any pain" Jack answers whilst biting gently into the man's wrist, where his veins are located.

"Now, sip slowly and when I say stop you must stop" Jack instructs me, where I nod my head in understanding. However, as soon as I taste the blood it's as if the savage beast inside of me awakens. The liquid is just so intoxicating I can't help but drink faster.

"Zoey stop!" Jack says, but I carry on drinking.

"Zoey your killing him! You have to stop!" Now that gets my attention. I don't want to kill a defenceless human being, never have and never will.

"Go stand over there whilst I heal his wound" Jack says in a scolding tone.

Where from the other side of the tree I watch Jack lick the open wound before it magically disappears. Why can't I do that?

"Because your not a full bred vampire" Jack says as he walks over towards me. Damn, I forgot he could read my mind.

"I can do a lot more than that" he answers with his signature smirk, earning a smack from me.

"Stop being disgusting and help me" I say.

"Help you with what? You done it, you managed to control your hungering needs and when you need to feed next which will probably be next week. I will take you hunting again" He says proudly.

"I really did it? I didn't do anything wrong?" I ask, where he quickly shakes his head.

"Nope, you handled everything fine. Now do you think you can control yourself if we go back towards where Becky is?" He questions. Could I? Well I've just drank blood, so I'm certain I won't be feeling desire for more anytime soon, so I think I can. "Yes" I answer as I place my hand in his and walk through the forest back to where my best friend was, but the main question on my mind now is, who stabbed her?
