Heaven or Hell?

Chapter Twenty-Four:

The occasional sound of a beeping monitor echos around the room. My eye lids feels heavy yet I still try to open them and fight the darkness that surrounds me. At least that is until I remember Leo dying in front of me. He's dead. The love of my life, the man I was going to run away with that night died before we could even leave. But at least Jack is now dead and I hope he burns in hell because that is where he deserves to go! Hell. Whereas Leo deserves to go to heaven. Heaven or Hell? I wonder where I will go when I die? Hell most likely. I never deserved Leo and when he asked me the first time to run away I turned him down. Now I wish I had taken him up on his offer. But perhaps now I can finally join my baby and Leo up in the sky, or even if I don't at least they are finally united.

"Has she woken up yet?" I hear a voice ask, a voice that sounds like my mother - Yep I'm definatly not dead then.

"Not yet" A stranger's voice responds, but I don't pay attention to that voice as I feel something touch my cheek. A small hand by the feels of it but something about that feeling makes my stomach tighten. Therefore, I re-attempt to open my eyes where at first nothing happens until at last I find myself staring at a pair of dark green eyes. Leo, that is the first then that registers in my head but then I realise that Leo is dead so these glorious eyes do not belong to him. So who do they belong to?

"Zoey! OH MY GOD ZOEY!" My mother screeches making me wince as a pain in my head exhilerates as her voice rings through my ears.

"Mrs Taylor, do you remember what happened to you?" A man with a clip board asks me, but the name "Mrs Taylor" makes me freeze. I'm not Mrs Taylor.

"I'm sorry, but who is Mrs Taylor?" I ask feeling extremely confused.

"Sweetie, you were involved in a car crash remember. You and Leo were coming back from your romantic weekend away and were on you way to my house to pick up Liam. Your son." My mother informs me. But I begin to shake my head in horror. 

"NO! Don't lie to me! We're vampires, Jack killed Leo and Liam was born prematurely! WHere's Blake and Becky? Who is this on me?!" I question as a billion things begin to swirl around in my head. 

"I will leave you two alone" The doctor says as he writes something down on his clip board after checking the monitors that I am hooked up too.

"Zoey, what do you remember?" My mother questions me as she takes the toddler off of the bed that I am on.

"I was performing at school at the concert and then there was a fire and Jack killed Leo, then Blake came and got me and the next thing I know I'm here?" I answer feeling unsure.

"Right, Zoey this is going to sound really confusing right now. We are not vampires, god knows where you got that from? But you and Leo got married almost two years ago when you were pregnant with Liam. This baby here is your son. He is a year old and you and Leo were in a car crash due to a drunken driver named Jack Slater. Leo only got a few stratches but you covered him with your body and since then you have been in a coma. Zoey, you've been in a coma for almost a year" My mother informs me leaving mortified. 

"A year? Is it bad to say I don't remember anything! Not my wedding. Liam's birth. The car crash. Nothing. Where's Leo?" I ask beginning to cry. 

"Shh, honey calm down he is with your brother getting some food. He hasn't left your side once this past year" She soothes me as she wipes away the tears.

"Can I hold him?" I ask as I point to Liam who fidgets in my mother's lap. Where a smile streches so far across her face I feel as if she is the chesire cat itself. "Of course!" She says, but as she hands me my son. A whole new emotion washes over me. Disbelif. 

"Hello there baby, I'm your mummy. I'm sorry I don't remember you but I'm going to try and get better for you. I promise, but mummy loves you very much!" I say as tears fall freely down my face, but as I pull my eyes away from my giggling baby. I notice Blake and Leo standing the door frame. Both staring at me with shock.

"ZOEY!" They both shout making me wince once more due to the pain in my head.

"OH MY GOD I THOUGHT I LOST YOU!" Leo cries as he runs towards me and Liam and wraps me in his arms. Now this feeling I do remember, because it's here in his arms that I feel safe like that it is in his arms where I belong.

"I'm sorry Leo. But I don't remember hardly anything" I say regretfully and he nods in understanding. "I figured, the doctor said you were most likely to have a concussion but I promise you your memory will return. It may just take time" He answers to which I nod before turning my attention to Blake.

"Hey little sister, I'm so glad your okay" He says as he gives me a hug.

"Wait, I'm actually your sister? I thought we were just really good friends?" I question, honestly this is just getting too emotional now.

"Zoey, I'm your twin brother. I'm a whole hour older than you" Blake informs me with tears in his eyes.

"I'm sorry" I answer, pulling him into a hug. Where I spend the rest of the day talking about my condition and that Jack Slater was arrested due to drunk driving and is locked up for a whole year. 

"Right, well me and Blake are going to go on home. Do you want me to take Liam tonight?" My mother asks Leo, who looks at me for an answer. "No, I want him here" I tell my mother who nods before kissing my forehead, closely followed by Blake. "Love you" They both say to which I respond the same thing as they walk out the door. Leaving just me, Leo and Liam in the room.

"I honestly thought I had lost you, I thought Liam would have to grow up mother-less" Leo says as he bounces Liam on his lap. To which I give him a sympathetic smile. "I'm not going anywhere" I promise as I do my best to lean over and give him a kiss, where thankfully he meets me half way.

"I love you Zoey Taylor" He says with the look of lust, love, admiration and hope written all over his face.

"I love you too Leo Taylor" I answer with a small smile forming on my lips and begin to lean in again. However, just as my lips are about to meet his a small voice says "Mummy" making both myself and Leo freeze.

"What did you say?" Leo asks Liam.

"Mummy" Liam repeats as he waves his arms up to me, indicating that he wants me to hold him. "OH MY GOD! That's his first word" Leo informs me, making me fill with the emotion of pride.

"That's right I'm your mummy" I tell Liam as I take him in my arms and hug him closely. That's when I realise, even if everything that I had lived through such as the fire was just a long nightmare. As long as I have Liam and Leo by my side, I will be joining them in heaven. Because with these two by my side, I will always be on cloud nine.
