Sofia slowly woke up at seven and I looked over my shoulder as she sat up, doubling over and moaning. "Good morning," I said.
"Morning. What are you doing over there?" Her slow reaction made me laugh.
I shrug. "It's a beautiful city. I wanted to sit and watch for a minute."
Sofia mumbled, her eyes lazily coming around to open, "Alright. Did you sleep well?"
"Yep. Did you?" I slid off the window seat and crawled to her in the center of the bed.
She hung her head. "It's so early."
I kissed the top of her hair and stroked her arm with the back of my finger. "I love you."
"I love you too." She looked at me with a smile. I covered her weak grin with my lips, and she shook me off playfully. She dragged her hand through her hair, giggling. "You're cute."
"You can be too."
"Can be?" She was offended, but her beautiful smile told me that nothing I can say would upset her.
I leaned back with a smirk, sizing her up in her pajamas. "Yeah. Sometimes."
She laughed to her lap and shook her head. "God, maybe you're just mean."
I kiss her temple and flinch back when she tried to fit in a lip to lip. "You need to get ready. You've got to get going."
"Are you coming with me?"
"No, I decided it was best if I just wait for you. I'm going to stay here and work on finding a dinner reservation. I want to take you out tonight."
"Dove-"
"We haven't been out on a date since-"
"I don't want to go out." She looked me straight in the eye, her mouth barely gaped as she gently shook her head. "You're trying too hard, babe. Dinner here is fine. I think as long as we're together, does it matter where we are?" She kicked off the bedding impatiently.
I stand up and come to sit on the foot of the bed as she picks apart her suitcase for her clothes. Somehow, even with it organized as specifically as it is, she struggles to pull everything she needs out. A black article snagged the button of her blazer. "Exactly. It doesn't matter where we are, Sofia. So what if we actually go out for once?"
She humoured me with a cheerful, airy pardon. "Fine. Let's go out. Find somewhere and we'll go. I figure that's an easy way to be revealed, but whatever."
"Sofia," I sigh. "I don't want to piss you off, I just want to have a nice dinner with you."
"I know. And I do too, but we live in a the same world as a lot of horrible people who will judge us, and I don't want to deal with that." She tossed her pile of clothes on the bed and pulled off her night top, leaving her in a stunning bra. Her body was perfect and I was caught staring, she flicked the cotton shirt at my arm, putting it down next to me. "Besides, if you look at me like that, we're sure to be found out."
I blush and look to the ground, I don't let her hear the pain in my voice. "I will find somewhere small, don't worry." It was rather early to touch the subject, and in retrospect, I should've expected she'd snap. She is sleep deprived and already ticked by the idea, so I wish I hadn't pushed her.
Once she had a gorgeous black shirt on with a white jacket, I met eyes with her. "I will get done as fast as I can," she promised.
I spare her anymore frustration and I get her mind back on track with her day. She's going to be busy, I hope she is ready. "Are any of them live, do you know?"
