"Ok. I realize I was talking to Adam and told you not to disturb me. But why in the heck would you bring her to the hospital?" I clench my fist and look up at one of my subordinates incredulously.
He looks down to avoid my eyes. "She was going to die..." He replies faintly.
I sit down in the chair beside Lilly's hospital bed and put my fingers to my temple in disbelief. Sometimes I wonder just how stupid they are.
"It was that sort of situation that you could have disturbed me for. Now did anyone see what actually happened?" I turn to look at Lilly and place her hand in mine. It's absolutely freaking ridiculous that I have to watch her heal without my help. But her injuries are too big for me to give her my blood now that there are witnesses.
Ren steps up. "By the looks of the injuries sustained from the fall, the trauma that was inflicted could not have happened on her own. Something, or someone had to have pushed her." He glances over at her with a worried look on his face.
"Saylen. He has to be moved. Even if he is at my house he is still too close to us and Dylan." I bark orders to some of the other fledglings in the room. "Move him to the house in the city. Now." I think about it for a minute.
"No. On second thought, gather all of our things and move them to the city. We'll be leaving tonight."
Just as they're about to leave, a nurse walks in the room with shock all over her face.
"Uhh...There is a limit on visitors." She looks at all of the men standing in the room worriedly and slowly starts to back out. I guess we should've at least checked by the front desk before we came in.
"Adam." I say.
"What's your name Miss?" Adam quickly ushers the nurse out of the room.
"Sarah..."
"Well Sarah, what is the fastest way to check my sister out of here?" I can already feel the power emanating behind his words, weaving a spell that entices the listener till they are totally helpless under the weight of it.
Their voices fade down the hall and the rest of the vampires follow him. I look back to Lilly. We can't stay here. Ever since I found out who this girl is, I'm worried every second she's not one of us. I take my wrist and bite into it then put it to Lilly's lips.
"Cai. What about the doctors?" Ren asks me.
"Adam is taking care of it. But we can't stay here like sitting ducks." I take my wrist back then lick the wounds, officially closing them. Smoothing her hair down, I close my eyes and search the town for anything suspicious. I just hope we're not too late. I shouldn't have left her alone like that.
"Is there a reason we are in such a hurry? Saylen is captured, what else do we need to be worried for?" Ren asks, puzzled.
"Someone is after Lilly. Someone who I would not like to reacquaint myself with. Nor would Lilly. It is dangerous for her to be a human right now. As soon as we get to the city I will turn her. I would've wished to avoid that till she was a little older, but now I have no choice." I start detaching all of Lilly's IVs and wires effectively making the EKG flatline. I pick up her limp body, already noticing how much healthier she looks since I gave her my blood.
"Let's go. Adam is already waiting by the truck." Just as I'm about to leave, Ren stops me.
"What about Dylan, Cai?" I turn to look at him and see the hurt in his eyes. It must have been hard for him through all of this. I knew Dylan and Ren were friends while they were growing up before I turned him.
"While Saylen is still as strong as he is, keeping Dylan away is for the best right now too. I'm sorry." I'm by the truck in the blink of an eye. The sun has started to peak over the horizon in the east making me worry. We've wasted too much time. It's also going to take about 2 1/2 hours to get to Oklahoma City also. Well, Edmond to be exact. The house I own there has to be one of my better ones.
"Everything is ready?" I climb in the passengers side of the truck holding Lilly close to my body.
"You bet. I disabled the CCTV and destroyed any footage of Lilly's presence and any memory from anyone she came into contact with. I also managed to stop by that human boys room. It gave him quite a scare." Adam grins wickedly as he climbs in the truck with Ren also hopping in the backseat.
"And does he still remember anything about us?"
"Not very much. But I did happen to see a snippet of a memory Saylen left behind. Apparently, Dylan was going to save the boy before Dylan was attacked." We head south out of town towards our destination, Adam picking up speed once we get outside city limits.
I frown. That boy was always doing stupid things to save other humans. Maybe he felt obligated at the time because of his mother. I don't know. All I know is, that Dylan, is gone.

"I will kill you." I say with as much hatred as my energy could spare. Blood wells up in my throat and I cough, choking.
Her laughter fills the air. "And how is that my dear?" She places her slender fingers on the side of my face almost lovingly while pushing the stake even farther into my heart.
My vision dims for a second and I glance over at my brother who is struggling to breathe, a stake protruding from his chest that is identical to mine. His beautiful hair that all the women of Italy used to adore sticks to the side of his face from all of the blood. I fall to my knees, slipping out of her grasp. To think this is how we are going to die. Two thousand years, wasted. All because of a stupid mistake.
I look up to the balcony and my eyes open wide.
"Caiaphas." I breathe out his name. He looks at me and my brother in horror.
I smile gently up at him. "I'm sorry I couldn't stay with you." I whisper.
He shakes his head adamantly but then drops down to the ground in defeat. He knows it's too late for me. Time has slowed down. The witch's laugh seems more distant now.
His voice sounds in my mind. "You will get your wish, love. And I will see you again." I slip in and out of consciousness, confused at his words. It's too late. Too late.
I smell my lover's blood in the air. Permeating what's left of my senses. No. He can't. It's too dangerous. The Blood Link hasn't been studied enough. This is futile. I groan in protest, not being able to see anything.
"What are you doing?" The younger vampire woman screams.
I feel a cool wrist at my lips, drops of his blood seep down my throat. But it's not meant to heal me. It's meant to seal. Seal our link. No one has ever tried something so foolish. Then his wrist falls limp as a wet and forceful sound emits from his body. I know that she has staked him too. I will my powers to come back to me but it's to no use. One last push to the wooden object in my chest and all of my senses leave.
I fade into darkness.
It's too late.
