43- Kidnapped By Vampires? But it's My Time of the Month!

(The song is Tep No- Promises)

-----------------------------------------M

"You're going to be the anchor Caiaphas." I rest my hand on his forearm while I flip through the ancient book that holds the secret to our eternity.

"What does that mean sister?" Taro frowns at me. Grabbing the ceremonial dagger I put my palm over the silver chalice. Caiaphas halts the blade.

"Do you know what you're doing, love?" He turns me around to look him in the eyes.

I smile weakly up at him. My strength is even failing me in moments like these.

"It's our only choice, love. Our end is soon. I can feel it. The book says that we must combine our blood and then the anchor takes that into their body. Upon the death of each member they will be reborn in new bodies as long as the combined blood is still in the anchor's system. Because Taro is of the same blood as me it should work for him too." I caressingly place my shaking hand to my lover's cheek.

"She will come for my brother and I soon. This is our only hope to be together. I wish there was another way but there is not. She found a way to take our strength. If this works, I will destroy her when we wake. We must try, love." I plead with Caiaphas and his eyes soften and he places his hand over mine and closes his eyes.

"Alright, love. We'll try." He relents and lets me continue the ceremony.

I cut my palm with the dagger and wince. I do not have the ability to heal myself anymore. Slowly, I take my brother's hand and do the same. My lover holds out his palm in front of me and I take a deep breath. A tear falls down my cheek and my eyes blur. I have not cried in hundreds of years. My weakness disgusts me.

"I'm sorry I could not protect you." I whisper to Caiaphas.

"That was never your duty, love. It was mine. This is my fault." The room shakes and a candle by the door is snuffed out and instantly makes the room cast in shadow. I glance up to him and notice his eyes burn a bright red in the low light of the library. My legs suddenly feel weak and I lean into my mate for support.

"We must hurry Melaine." Taro is clenching the table tightly, trying to steady himself. Caiaphas places his hand around mine and guides my hand to his palm and makes a deep cut. Blood wells to the surface and flows into the silver bowl. The mixture glows a dark red for a second then settles.

My voice barely a whisper, I tell Caiapahas, "You must drink every last drop, love. It's the same for when we wake. You must be the one to turn us. Then do the same ceremony."

He puts the silver bowl to his lips and drinks deeply. Suddenly, he clutches his chest in pain. I look at him worriedly but he soon straightens and takes a deep breath.

"When the time comes and I feel myself dying, you must feed both of us your blood. But if something happens Caiaphas, if she does something, then forget this. I don't want you to sacrifice yourself along with us. I don't even know if this will work. I need someone here when we're gone. Promise me that you won't die with us." My legs collapse from under me and I'm swept up in an instant. The blood from my hand continues to drip to the floor as my lover takes me to our chambers. He lays me in my bed and my eyelids start to flutter closed. As I'm about to fall asleep, something I have also not done in hundreds of years, he whispers in my ear.

"I don't make promises I can't keep."

I rub the place on my palm where Cai took my blood then left. The spot has still not healed. Soon after we all woke up when that women came and took Lilly, something changed in Cai. It was very strange. He must be with my sister now since he said that she'd awoken.

"Adam, are you alright?" Eleanor stares at my hand still bleeding onto the bedroom floor and I smile gently at her.

"I'm fine. I'm not sure why it's not healing. This has never happened before." I absent-mindedly glance around the room at the damage her and Cai did before she broke his neck. I did not know he could be beaten like that.

"I'll get you something to wrap it in." Eleanor says worriedly but I grab her hand to stop her.

"It's okay I'll be fi-

A pain erupts in my head and I rake my bloody palm through my hair in desperation while still gripping on to her. I let go quickly so I don't break the bones in her small hand.

"Adam!" Eleanor supports me as I slip to the floor as my vision goes dark. What did Cai do to me?

----------------------------------------L

"It's time to wake up, love." Cai whispers in my ear as his hand trails up my thigh.

I take a ragged breath, trying to process what he's saying.

"You'll see, love. It's finally time." His tone deepens with anticipation.

I lean back then cock my head at him. Searching through my memories I notice something different. Then suddenly, I feel a sharp pain across my palm. I look at him questioningly but garner no response. He then slices his own hand and pours it into the cup that he took out when we moved to the car. The cup reacts strangely and my eyebrows furrow in confusion. Lifting it to his lips, he gulps down the blood that he took from the both of us. Whatever he did must have been detrimental because he winces and his eyes grow a deep red. I smirk and lick my lips as I watch him. Whatever he is doing interests me greatly.

Finally, he turns his attention back towards me.

"Are you ready, love? This is what you've waited so long for."

I just stare quietly as he bites his wrist and offers it to me. I gladly accept. If the memories serve me well this is an enjoyable experience. I drink deeply but then freeze. Pain in my head bursts and Cai holds me as I collapse in the seat.

No past memory could have prepared me for this.
