How's everyone doing? Good I hope. I apologize for the huge delays between parts but I have devoted most of my time to work and school these past couple of months. I'm one step closer to becoming a teacher!
Anyway, hope y'all enjoy! Here's part 42! Don't forget to comment and vote!

"Melaine." A voice whispers at the edge of my consciousness waking up my mind in a burst of bright lights.
Flames flicker in my field of vision emphasizing the burning happening in my body. My veins feel like molten lava and I arch my back and scream in pain. Loud noises bang against my eardrums and I stretch my hands out to find something that can ease this relentless torture but I come up with nothing.
Explosions echo around me and my eyes spring open. I gasp for breath and struggle for several more minutes when everything suddenly stops. Everything. The pain leaves me and so does the burning and confusion. I lie completely still; aware that I could stay there forever and not need to get up. The sounds around me are dull until I focus in on each individual one. I comprehend that I am outside in grass.
Looking to the side I register where the explosions came from. A house I don't recognize burns in the night sky, smoke billowing up into the heavens. A figure walks towards me as sirens start to blare in the background. Our eyes meet and the person stops beside me. Reaching down, I'm picked up off the ground and we walk into the darkness. I continue to inspect the face of the man who took me. Something in my mind tells me it's familiar but I still struggle with recognition.
I reach up with slender, white, fingers and touch his face. He glances down once but otherwise continues to walk on. Where we're going or why I'm here never pops up in my mind. I assess my feelings of the situation but realize I don't care. No drive to do anything ever appears. After an indeterminable amount of time passes we arrive at a lot of parked cars. Curiosity starts to bloom in me but fizzles out as my feet are placed on the ground.
Squinting down at my legs I feel as if something is different but I can't pin point it either. While I was analyzing, the man opened a black truck and was holding the door open whilst looking at me intently. Figuring out that he wants me to get in I take my first steps. Time moves languidly while I walk at a faster pace. It causes me to pause but I brush it off and get in like I'm supposed to.
In a while we're on the road. My eyes flicker back and forth at everything. Information is processed quickly and in huge amounts. Soon I'm back to studying the man beside me. I've conjured up what I believe is a memory of him in the mean time but I cannot think of a name to go with it. I realize I will have to talk.
"What do you call yourself?" From my memories I know that I have worded this question weirdly but it should be sufficient for now. My voice comes out melodic and unfamiliar but seems to carry further than what my memories tell me it usually went.
The man doesn't answer so I go back to registering my surroundings. After a while though I begin to squirm in my seat. My throat has started to burn a familiar fire and causes me to wring my hands in impatience. What is this? This has been the only drive to do anything since I awoke.
I start to feel the vehicle slow down and in a minute we're pulled over in a deserted looking parking lot. I glance to our right and see a relatively young human man working a gas station alone. The man who picked me up gets out of the truck and walks into the store and up to the human. In a minute they are both walking outside and over to my side of the car. The men make a stark contrast against each other. One long, muscled, and flawless. The other stocky, dark, and weathered. I smile vaguely at my comparison. My door is opened and the man is pushed towards me. His eyes widen at my appearance and he is at once entranced.
White hands snake around his neck and push it to the side. The veins under his skin stand out to me perfectly and I lick my lips in anticipation. The man holding onto the human's neck looks me in the eyes and shows me his fangs elongate smoothly. I grin and allow mine to do the same as I slide gracefully down from the truck. He slips his teeth into the man's neck first, showing me how to hit the artery just right. After just a couple draughts he retracts and holds the human's neck out for me. I accept gladly and bite down. Energy rushes in and I close my eyes in ecstasy. The man groans under my careful ministry. Drinking happily, after a couple of minutes I look into the eyes of the vampire. They pulsate red in response to my feeding and he shows me a grin of true ferocity that blooms pleasure deep within me.
I let go of the human and he falls down at our feet. I smile back at him.
"Dylan." The name forms on my lips and I step closer to him.
He responds by reaching forward and wiping whatever blood remained on my lips. Taking his thumb into his mouth I watch him lick the rest off deliciously.
"It's been awhile." The deepness of his voice cuts through the night air and I relish it's tonality.
"Yes." I say simply. My eyes studying his demeanor, I hesitantly move even closer, the echoing of his voice in my mind reeling me in. Dylan smoothly wraps one arm around my waist and the other cups my neck and cheek. I push air out of my unmoving lungs unsteadily and breathe him in. The newness of my body and senses causes everything to feel much more than it was before.
He presses his forehead into mine and closes his eyes.
"Can you believe I tried to turn you before he did? Such a shame that your brother got in the way first or this would be a much better reunion. Even now your sire is on the way. He felt you as soon as you awoke." His words cut through me like ice.
"Even your eyes mock me with his presence." I frown and pull away unceremoniously then look over to the truck window. Emerald eyes blink back at me then widen in shock. Bringing my arm up I sigh at the beauty of it. My mark that is intricately carved into my white skin pulsates with warmth at my recognition of it.
"What happened?" I look up at his frowning face and wait for him to answer.
His red eyes harden a bit and then look away.
"His old sire got in the way of you turning and made a real mess of things. I've never seen him be bested so quickly like that before. I followed her and took you back. You were transitioning so I had to lie you down until I could get everything handled," Dylan says in a monotone with his arms firmly crossed.
"If she was so strong then how did you succeed in bringing about her demise?" I say as I thoughtlessly nudge the man on the ground with the heel of my foot.
He huffs out a breath as a car races up the street to where we are.
"Simple. I'm not weak. And I never said I ended her. Keep that in mind." He glances at me once more before he leaves in the truck we had just arrived in.
Before I have time to contemplate on what was said, I feel my mark burn brightly, causing my knees to wobble. I whip my head around and look into eyes now identical to mine.
Cai wraps me in his arms tightly and I reciprocate right away. As soon as our skin touches each other the mark on my arm explodes in pleasure and I groan at its headiness.
Cupping my face in his hands I watch as he calculates the changes in me and see his eyes soften when he registers the color of my irises. Running his fingertips through the fineness of my hair, Cai gently kisses my forehead that leaves a pleasurable burning sensation behind.
"Are you alright, love?" I ask him softly, enjoying the tenderness of each kiss.
"Mmhmmm..." He responds, distracted. His lips trace my jawline and I breathe out raggedly as he continues down the contours of my neck.
"You sure you want to do this here?" I ask with difficulty. Much more of this and I really won't care where we are. The connection between us is getting too much to ignore.
He pauses at the pulse point on my throat and pulls back. He looks into my eyes and blinks slowly, almost as if drunk.
"Any more sure and I'd be dead. Oh wait..." He whispers as a slight smirk appears on his face making any second thoughts of mine dissipate completely. His expression is of raw need and I'm afraid our eyes aren't the only thing that match at this moment.
