Kyler held me close as Kody explained his plan.
When he finished, Kyler had an evil grin on his face that I've never seen before.
"I just hope this works or else we're screwed."
"It'll work. Trust me." said Kody as he led Alli back to their room.
X and Alex were both ecstatic that Alex was going to live.
As soon as he drank the blood, the wound healed and he was fine.
Kyler led me back to the room and sat on the bed, pulling me down with him.
"What's wrong?" Kyler asked, brushing my hair out of my face.
"What if this doesn't work? Then I'll lose you and have to be with Nick."
"It'll work. I promise. And if it doesn't, I'll save you before anything happens." He said, kissing me before laying us back and holding me close.
"I love you, Avery."
"I love you, too." I said as I cuddled closer to him.
I sighed and soon drifted into a dreamless sleep.

A loud bang woke me up and I sat upright.
It was still dark and I couldn't see hardly anything.
"Kyler?" I whisper/yelled, starting to panic.
The door flew open and Nick walked in.
He flashed me a cocky smiled and walked closer.
Kyler stepped out of the shadows and rose a silver stake, about to plunge it into Nick's back.
Nick turned and grabbed the stake.
"I'm smarter than you think."
Nick threw Kyler back and he slammed into the wall.
He turned to me and I screamed when he grabbed me.
Kyler tried to attack Nick, but when he was about to, Nick put him teeth on my neck.
Kyler stopped dead in his tracks, fear on his face.
Tears burned my eyes.
"Kyler-" I whimpered as Nick's grip around me tightened and his teeth sunk deeper into my neck.
"Let her go, please!" Kyler pleaded.
"But I want to turn her. And I will." Nick said, getting ready to bite me.
"No! You'll kill her!"
"It's only gonna kill you to see her with me."
Kyler's eyes shined with tears.
"You'll kill her Nick, she's a vampire."
Nick's grip tightened to an extreme amount.
"Then why is she still warm? And why isn't she strong enough to get away?"
"I don't know! Just don't... please don't bite her!" Kyler pleaded.
"Please!"
Nick was silent and for some reason, I started crying.
"What happened to us, Kyler?" Nick mumbled, letting me go.
I ran into Kyler's arms and he held me tight, trying to calm me.
He kissed my forehead and lightly rocked us side to side.
"What happened to us? We used to be best friends." Nick mumbled.
