At the studio - Rocky
We got to the studio and I texted Yams letting him know we were here. As soon as we walked in Yasmine started walking around and observing everything. So how long have you been in the studio? She sat down in a chair.
"Hmm I don't know for a minute maybe a year." I started turning on the mics and soundboards and she nodded.
That's really cool I'm excited to see how this all works and see you in action. She smiled.
"You wanna come in the booth with me and I can show you how it works?" She nodded her head and we walked into the booth.
"Okay put these headphones on and adjust them to fit you." She slid the headphones on and sat down on the stool.
"So you'll be able to hear yourself and the instrumental through these headphones. You can also hear your engineer talk to you through them too. So I gotta do a sound check and since Yams isn't here yet you can do it for me." I winked.
Are you sure?
"Positive." I walked out of the booth and went back to the soundboard.
"Alright just rap something or whatever so I can make sure everything straight." I gave her two thumbs up to go whenever she was ready. I started messing with the volume but soon shot my head up when she started singing.
Come mess with a real one
If you're one in a million
Don't let a lot of people in
But you get admission
And I don't let my walls down
But I see us building
And you ain't a feeling
'Cause that's how I'm feelingYou make me wanna put my phone down
When we're alone, I wanna zone out
Baby, with you, I ain't got no doubts
I'm just trying to let you know nowFacts
You were the one I was missing
The opposite of fiction
And that's facts
Ooh, it's a given
I don't care 'bout opinions
And that's facts, facts
And that's facts
You were the one I was missingJust the beginning
It don't get no better
As long as you hold me down
I'll be up for whatever
And I love the way you look at me
'Cause I see forever
Was ready before
But I want you now more than everYou make me wanna put my phone down
When we're alone, I wanna zone out
Baby, with you, I ain't got no doubts
I'm just trying to let you know nowFacts
You were the one I was missing
The opposite of fiction
And that's facts
Ooh, it's a given
I don't care 'bout opinions
And that's facts, facts
And that's facts
You were the one I was missingI was taken back completely by her singing because of how smooth and angelic her voice sounded. It sounded way softer singing compared to when she spoke. Not only did her singing take me back but her delivery plus the lyrics made it sound personal. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled.
Was that good?
"Yo come out here." I smiled as she got up coming out of the booth.
"Your voice sounds amazing Yas why didn't you tell me you could sing? Im not that interesting." I mocked her.
For one I don't sound like that and you never asked me. She said in a duh tone.
Why don't you take a career in singing?
Because I like singing for fun I wouldn't really want to do it for a career. Thanks for the compliments though.
"Was that song about somebody or you just did a cover?"
Nope it was just a cover I really like the song. When are you going to play your song for me?
I heard three knocks on the door and walked over to it knowing it was Yams.
"Right now." I opened the door.
Wassup Rocky.
"What's good bro." We did our handshake.
The rest of them niggas might stop by later. He sat his stuff down and looked over and seen Yasmine and made this little face at me.
"Yams this is Yasmine, Yasmine this is Yams." They shook hands.
It's nice to meet you sweetie I've heard lots of good things about you. Rocky was right you are jiggy.
Lots of good things huh? I hope so. She smiled looking at me.
"Alright I already did sound check and stuff in case we need to fix any part of the song but you can play it." I said to Yams and he nodded pulling out his laptop.
Alright let's get this shit crackin'.
He played the song and we immediately started bobbing our heads. I looked over at Yasmine and could tell she was feeling it. I started rapping along to it dancing and Yasmine laughed at me. The song came to an end and she started clapping.
Rocky that was really good! Look at you.
"Thanks baby girl."
I'm about to work on the vocals a little bit and that should be good Rocky man. Yams said and I nodded sitting down next to Yasmine.
So is that your nickname for me or something? She giggled.
"Yeah something like that. You my baby girl." I looked at her and she was blushing.
I grabbed her hand and planted a small kiss on her knuckles.
"So what you doing this weekend?"
Probably studying nothing fun. She pouted.
"Well I'm taking you out." She looked at me with raised eyebrows.
Where at this time?
"I don't know yet but it's going to be a date." I said nonchalantly.
She turned her whole body towards me looking at me.
So it's a date huh? I nodded my head.
Well I don't think that's how you ask but okay.
"Yasmine, baby girl will you go on a date with me this weekend and make me the happiest man in the world?" I grabbed both of her hands.
Yes I will but you need to tell me where we're going so I know how to dress. I laughed.
"Dress in maybe some lace or something." I joked biting my lip and she pushed me laughing.
"Nah but dress up and look cute and that's not a hard task since you always look beautiful."
Oh whatever. She rolled her eyes
"I'm serious even on your worst days you look beautiful and I can't be seen with no ugly girl. Only the baddies get with pretty flacko." I popped my imaginary collar.
Oh really? She laughed.
I nodded my head and she laid on my chest just talking as Yams finished up the song.
