20: Love and Games

Tris pov

When we get to Zeke's apartment Uriah and Shauna are there. I give them a quick smile and wave when we walk into Zeke's living room. There is this black box connected to the tv that is displaying some kind of war.

"What is that Zeke?"

"Oh ya abnegation thought it was selfish or whatever so you never saw one. Anyways it is called a video game. I am the person shooting people and the goal is the win this little battle.It is a five person game if you want to play."

"Sure why not"

"Four, Uriah, Shauna would you like to join also?"

Four and Uriah get up and grab a remote. Shauna shakes her head no.

"Ok let's get started then shall we?"

He hits the start button and five seconds later the screen is split into four parts.

Uriah yells " Tris you are going down. Girls can't play video games."

Zeke laughs and Tobias leans over still staring at the screen and whispers into my ear "I have full faith that you will beat him" he pulls away and winks at me.

"We'll just see about that Uriah"

We play for about five more minutes and the scores go in 1st is Uriah, 2nd is me, 3rd is Tobias and Zeke, they are tied . All the scores are really close though. At most one kill away from each other.

On my screen I see Uriah's Avatar hiding behind a crate. I sneak up on the other side of the crate and lean over and shoot him in the shoulder. His avatar is on the ground about to die.

"And you said girls can't play video games." and with that I shoot Uriah's avatar in the head. He stands up and screams.

"Not fair Tris I didn't see you coming!"

Then my eyes drift over to Uriah's screen. He is not paying attention because he is still throwing a fit and neither are Tobias and Zeke because they are fighting over 3rd place. I see that Uriah's avatar has responded and is currently now standing in the fields.

I make my avatar move to the fields and hold up my gun.

I aim it at Uriah's avatar and say " life isn't fair Uriah." then I shoot him. The final scores come across the screen and I win, Uriah is second, Zeke is third, and Tobias is fourth. I guess girls can play.

"Ugh fine girls can play. But if this were real life I would defiantly win."

Tobias gives him a surprised look "oh really? I think we all know who would win."

"I would and we can't go shooting each other." Uriah replies.

For the first time in a while Shauna speaks "or maybe we can... Paint Ball!"

"Good thinking shanua, I probably would have never thought of that." I say

"Ya all this thinking is making me thirsty. Mind getting me a drink from the kitchen." she grins.

"Of course anything for the thinker."

I get up off the floor and walk into to kitchen. I hear foot steps behind me while I'm grabbing the cup out of the cuboard. I look behind me and Uriah is in the kitchen with me.

"Hey Tris I've been meaning to tell you something. It's hard for me to say considering Four is one of my best friends but I think you should know."

"What?"

"tris I really like you. I mean more than friends. I know I can't be with you though because you love Four."

Uriah likes me? I would have never guessed. I mean I like him to but in a brother way.bAll I manage to say is "oh."

"If you and Four ever breakup could you give me a chance?"

Tobias and I are engaged, I never plan on breaking up with him. How could Uriah have me make a promise like this. "Uriah you should know Four and I are engaged. I'm sorry but I doubt we will seperate. If we do though you will be one of the first to know."

"Okay thanks Tris. And please don't tell Four about this. He would kill me, I only thought you should know. I wasn't trying to make you and Four breakup or anything."

"I won't Uriah"

We walk back into the living room together. I hand Shauna her glass and sit on the floor by Tobias. He gives me a questioning look. I nudges me, then looks straight at the clock. It is 8:59 already.

"Hey guys we got to be going. Do you want to do paintball on Friday? I will tell Christina and Caleb to see if they want to come."

Almost all at once everyone says "Bye guys and yeah that would be good."

Tobias and I walk out the door.

"What was that all about in the kitchen with you and Uriah?"

"Oh nothing he just kept battering me about him beating me in paintball and making up excuses to why he lost the video game."

"That was hilarious. You are pretty good at that game Tris. Are you sure ou haven't played before?"

"Positive."
