"Get up. Your turn." Stace shakes me and plops down in my place.

I begrudgingly take a seat by the fire outside. It feels like I have been sitting there for hours when I hear someone emerge from the tent behind me.

Eliana trudges up to me and falls to the ground next to me, resting her head on my knee.

"What are you doing up?" I stroke her hair.

"I couldn't sleep. I had some weird dreams." She mumbled.

"What type of weird dreams?" I French braid her hair.

"I was walking in the woods and someone took my dagger and stabbed me."

I felt my heart break. 10 year olds should not be having this dream. I wrapped my arms around her. "I promise that won't happen. I will protect you, like I always have."

She nodded and yawned.

"You need to sleep." I took a deep breath and started to sing.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life,
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Black bird fly, black bird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Black bird fly, black bird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life,
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Black bird fly, black bird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Black bird fly, black bird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise  Blackbird by the Beatles

When I finish the song, Eli is fast asleep and Stacy is sitting next to me.

"Holy Hera, I did not know you could sing." She whispers.

"Yeah I can, now help me get Eli to bed."

Together me and Stacy carry her into the bed and tuck her in. Then we sit out side and watch the sun comes up in silence.

"So, do you believe in Greeks yet?" Stacy questions.

I snort and roll my eyes. "Kinda have to, how else do you explain flaming donkey ladies?"
