I sit behind my desk, bored. Nothing much has happened today. “Mr. Hulsey, you have a visitor.”, my secretary pages me. “Send them in.” I hear footsteps that stop in front of my door. Why are they hesitating? “Come in.”, I shout to them. James opens the door with those two kids he brought last time. “Where did you go on the one-year anniversary of Jacobs death?”, he stares me dead in the face, expressionless.

“I went to a bar and got wasted.” I smile at him. “Then you came home and beat mom and me senseless.” The other two kids fidget, and the boy looks at me weird. “I will not have you come to my job to argue with me.”, I sit down and clasp my hands together. I am slightly shaking, and my palms are sweaty. He doesn’t know anything, Terry.

“You know cops found your fingerprints in the Meyers house and shoe imprints in their blood.”, James puts his hands on my desk and smirks. “I know you killed them, stole their valuables, and burned down the house.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He clenches his teeth and glance at the other two.

“I find it funny that the man who was responsible for Jacobs’ death suddenly disappeared and his house burned down. You were angrier than the other parents and you blamed the bus driver when it wasn’t-.” “You don’t know what you’re talking about! If he hadn’t been so stupid my son would still be alive! He got what he deserved. He didn’t realize what he took from me and the other parents. He needed to learn-.” I try to calm down, but they are irritating me.

“How would you know what happened to him. No one ever found out if they were in the fire or not. And what did he need to learn?”, James says. I bite the inside of my cheek and cross my arms. “Everyone heard about the fire. They probably were in the house. No one ever saw them after the fire. He took the only thing I ever cared about. He needed to know what it was like to lose everything he had.”, I spit out my words like venom. “Leave now!” James grins and walks out
