The Deep Dark Stone Path

Chapter 19 - *James*

I made everyone a big breakfast of pancakes this morning and I am taking Dalilah hers. I walk in and set the food on her night stand. "Hey there, Dalilah, won't you wake up and eat your breakfast." I sing. She laughs and says "Food?" I laugh. "Thanks, babe, I feel the love." And I even add a dramatic effect by holding my hands over my heart, acting hurt. She kisses my cheek and then dives into her pancakes, smiling. I eat mine and we sit in a comfortable silence till she is done licking her plate clean of all evidence that there were pancakes on it. My jaw drops and she just looks at me contentedly. Soon the others wake up and go eat their food. I put her in a movie before taking our plates to the kitchen. Two of her siblings have already eaten, Damian is still sleeping. Mr. Daniels already ate and went to work, Audrey told me. I wash the dishes and put them in the cabinet. Both the boys decide to go fishing and asked me to go with them. The girls are going to stay home and play board games and watch movies. Damian gives me a fishing pole and I follow the boys to the lake. We all split up the bait and find separate spots to fish. But first I have to get Damian to teach me how to fish. After a couple hours I can fish pretty well and all together the three of us have caught seven fish. I guess we got dinner. We all head home and talk about ourselves and how fun fishing is. Then Austin asks me, "Are you and Dalilah dating?", Both boys look at me. I nod. "Do either of you have a girlfriend?" They both shake their heads and then there is an awkward silence as we go home. When we get home it is a little after two, so I make lunch, with Austins help. He has really taken a liking to me. I take Dalilah her food and we watch Aladdin while eating our sandwiches. Soon Mr. Daniels gets home and he talks to the others about their day. The boys talk about fishing with me and Audrey talks about watching movies with Dalilah and playing Checkers. I put on Aristocats for her to watch. I go to leave and she says, "James, will you stay with me?" I nod and lay down next to her. Soon enough Dalilah falls asleep. I tuck her in and cut off the T.V. I laugh and head to my room. I like Dalilah and her family so much. I have never been so happy.
