I woke up with a pounding headache and big arms wrapped around me as I tried to recall the events from last night. Adam and Anne, Blake picking me up, Blake and I sleeping with each other. Oh man, this wasn't going to be pretty.
I reached for the alarm clock and saw it was two in the afternoon. I tried to reach for my phone, it was a bit awkward trying not to wake up Blake but I did it. I had 12 missed calls from Adam, two from Jesse. I checked my texts and saw one from Jesse and four from Adam. I read Jesse's first.
'Where the hell are you? Call me.' I texted Jesse saying I was safe and I'd call later. I opened Adam's and they were all from early this morning, so he didn't get much sleep either. Except we had very different reasons for not sleeping. I opened them.
'Eve where are you? Let me explain, please!'
'I wont leave you alone.'
'Please pick up, I have to know you are at least safe.'
'Eve, I'm sorry. Please call me.'
Were all his four texts. I set my phone on the night stand and cuddled myself closer to Blake, he was so tall he practically dwarfed me. But I'll admit he was a dang good human heater. I felt safe under his arms, it was different than Adam's. Maybe I didn't mind different. I felt Blake stir, I pretended to be asleep. He placed a kiss on my head."I saw your eyes open." He laughed.
I groaned and he got out of bed, just in his boxers. I'll admit I was enjoying my view. He had a really muscular back.
"Are you hungry?" He asked, turning around.
I sat up and nodded. We were silent as I watched him make breakfast. He sat down food in front of me and we ate in silence.
"So, last night." I started off, not sure how to bring up the subject.
"Was pretty eventful." He laughed.
I rolled my eyes. "Be serious here, hillbilly."
He scoffed. "Haven't heard that one before. But I think we were just both lonely and wanted to get back at our cheating other."
I choked on my food. "That's why you guys are on a break!?"
I was shocked to say the least. He nodded. I told him I was sorry. We didn't talk much more after that, we just thought about things. I helped him with the dishes and we got in a small water fight, so it was safe to say Blake was definitely the joking type. I told him I was going to make a quick phone call and walked outside to dial Jesse's number.
"Finally! I mean jeez!" Jesse said.
"Hey Jess, I kinda did something last night." I muttered.
"What exactly did you do?" He asked.
"I called Blake and he picked me up and.. well... you know.." I trailed off.
"What! No! Oh man, if Adam finds out.. Wow. Your life is a soap opera, I swear."
"I know, I know. But I'm going to stay here for a while okay?"
"As long as you're safe, but just come see me soon?"
"I will I promise."
"Alright, text me."
I hung up and went back inside and saw Blake on the couch.
"Wanna watch a movie or something?" He asked.
I sat down next to him and nodded. He popped in some movie and we watched it for a while. After that we made dinner together. After we ate and cleaned up, then came the talk we had avoided all day.
"Um, I think I'll take the guest room I guess." I said as I was leaning on the kitchen cabinet with a drink in my hand.
Blake always had liquor around and I wasn't complaining. He turned and faced me, he had a small smirk on his face. He walked over to me and was standing an inch a way from me, looking down at me. I had to crane my neck up to see him, he was taller than I thought. He put his hands on my waist and pulled me close.
"No, come to bed with me." He whispered huskily.
"I- I um. I think."
He shook his head. "Don't think for once, just do what feels right. And right now, you feel right."
He wasn't wrong, I was always thinking. If I had been thinking I would have chose the guest room, only I was done with thinking. I was going to listen to Blake and do what felt right in the moment. My voice came out as a whisper.
"Then lead the way, cowboy."
He smiled and easily picked me up, I wrapped my legs around him. Giggling all the way to his room.
