When Coasts Collide (Hayes Grier)

Chapter 2

Rose's POV

"One grilled cheese and vanilla milkshake coming right up!", the chef hollered as I gave him my customers' order.

I work at Roll N' Roaster. It's a spunky diner in Avondale, Arizona. All the waitresses have to wear roller skates and skate their orders to their customers. It's pretty fun if you ask me.

As I waited for our next customer and the order I placed for Table 12, I skated over to my best friend, Tiffany. We have been best friends since kindergarten and she's one of the only friends I ever had.

"Hey whatcha doing?", I asked her, even though it was clear she was working the register.

"Nothing I'm just--", but she got cut off by my cue to leave...

"Table 12's order is ready!", the chef yelled, again.

"Sorry Tiff, I gotta run." And I skated off.

When I delivered the meal to Table 12, the women there thanked me and enjoyed her meal. But as I skated back to Tiffany, the door opened and I tripped. But being my clumsy self, I was used to this and instead of screaming I simply prepared myself for impact.

But it never came. Instead my body fell into a strong pair of arms. And when I opened my eyes I saw the one thing I didn't expect. I saw a boy who looked around my age looking back at me.

"Now your lucky I was here or else you would be in serious pain right now," he smirked while helping me regain my balance.

That's when I saw who this guy was standing next to... it was none other than Tyler Woods. He's the most popular kid at our school! As I stood there my cheeks started heating up.

Why did one of my most clumsy moments have to be in front of him?

As mortified as I was I quickly thanked Tyler's cute friend and stalked off to where Tiffany stood, gawking.

"Rosemarie Banks! You just got your life saved by Hayes Grier, my friend!", she said still awestruck.

"Who?", I questioned, confused about everything that was going on.

"ROSE!! Hayes... the guy I've been talking about, the hot one that moved into Tyler's apartment! The one that's a senior with us!", she whisper-yelled so that they wouldn't hear.

"Okay, okay, I get it, a cute guy who is friends with the most popular guy in our school saved me by catching me when I tripped and made a fool of myself," I recapped and shifted my gaze over to this Hayes guy, only to see that he was staring right back at me.

"He totally likes you girl! This could be a good change Rose... maybe senior year will be different. Maybe we won't go unnoticed this time.", Tiffany stated.

Well at least somebody was happy. I on the other hand, did not think it was possible to suddenly become popular. And no matter how hot Hayes is, I'm not going to fall into his trap. He's probably a player anyways.

I am not going to fall into his trap. I refuse to!
