The Orb

Okay. I have no idea what I am doing here. I don't even know what... Okay... Okay I don't know what I'm doing right now, but I'm hoping it will help control my thoughts. This has all happened in just two days, that's when my bigger problems started. I don't know how to put this, I still don't even know what it is, if it is anything. I mean, what I mean is. Okay, so it started at the beginning of the day, today.

I woke up, and left my bedroom, only half awake, heading to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. And there it was, hovering above my coffee table. It was shimmering, and fracturing light. It didn't look like anything at first, and so I brushed it off as just that, nothing. So after I had my coffee, I took a second look. It didn't help at all, that coffee. Instead it just confused me more by making me thinking logically. So after looking at it again, I realized that it reminded me of a bubble. It was clear, and appeared to be made up of nothing more than water, but I didn't try touching it until I was sure it would hurt me. And it wasn't solid, or at least, it didn't look solid. It looked fluid and constantly shifting. It looked beautiful, well it still looks beautiful, I can see it from where I am right now. I just wanted to reach out and touch it. However, a little fly told me otherwise. And I am being literal when I say a fly showed me that wasn't a good idea.

I'm not joking around, a fly apparently thought the same thing I did, and decided it really wanted to touch that thing. To my amazement, the fly did actually manage to land on the bubble thing, without falling through, but then, within a second, a strange semi circle hoop protruded from the bubble, quickly it maneuvered itself over the fly, and the rejoined with the main body, cutting the fly in half. The hoop was as thin as a blade, allowing it to make a clean cut, separating the thing into two. Both of the small parts tumbled off of the bubbles surface, and hit my carpet. I jumped back, and promptly uttered some curses.

That was when my cat came wondering in. I yelled out to him "Damn it cat, not now!"

He meowed in response.

Annoyed with what was going on around me, I called 911, I mean, I really don't know who else I could have called. I mean, not even the ghost busters joke would help.

So I waited down in the lobby of my apartment complex to lead him up to the bubble. When we got back to my apartment, I found that my silly cat got curious as well. It looked like the bubble cut my cat in several different places, not just once, in half.

The cop pulled out his gun, and trained it on me. "What the heck are you doing up here man?" He shouted, obviously not as confused as he was about to be.

"I didn't do it." I replied, raising my hands.

"That cat didn't deserve anything like that!" The cop retorted.

And so I pointed toward the floating bubble that seemed to be glowing with light of different colors. "And I didn't deserve anything like that!"

Looking at it, I could tell that we were thinking the same thing. We both, really wanted to touch it. Even with my dead cat laying right in front of it, it didn't change what we wanted, as crazy as that sounds. Even now as I look at it, I just want to reach out and touch it, though I know that isn't a good idea.

So the officer turned to look at me, gun now pointed at the floor and said the eloquent words "What the fuck is that?"

Such a wonderful choice of words. So I explained my situation.

He looked at me, then back at the orb, and then once more back to me. "And you thought I would be the guy to call?"

"Not you specifically."

"Didn't want to call the ghost busters?"

"The thought crossed my mind."

"What is that thing anyway?"

"That thought also crossed my mind."

"And once more, why exactly am I here?"

I pointed to his hand. "You have a gun, I think you should shoot it."

"Shoot it?"

"Yes shoot it."

He looked over to the floating bubble of magic stuff, and then looked toward the dead cat. "I say again, you want me to shoot it?"

I nodded.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Alright, wouldn't be the weirdest thing today." With that said it took a little while for him to get the nerve, just to finally pull the trigger. And when he did, a piercing crack sounded throughout the room, not from the gun shot itself, but from the actual impact. A sheet of metal hit the floor, being what had been the bullet. "How do we know it did that to the cat?" He asked out of the blue.

It was my turn to give him odd looks. "I didn't see it happen to the cat, but I did see it happen to a fly."

"A fly? We are going to compare a cat to a fly?"

"Sounds weird, I know."

"I don't think you do know. Look, all I'm saying is, it can't possibly be all that bad to touch."

I was about to agree with this statement, but common sense kicked in. "No, I still saw what it did, trust me."

He looked disappointed. "I'm sure I can handle it." He said, sounding almost desperate.

I sighed and said, "I need to figure out what I am going to do with this thing, and you are going to help." I looked over at the bubble again. It glittered like a suspended puddle of water. Watching its smooth and relaxed movements made me thirsty. It looked not only tasty, but also cool and refreshing. However I had to fight off that desire, and am now doing it again. So instead of just giving in and doing what I really wanted to do to it, I asked a question to my new cop friend. "Hey, you want a drink, I'm getting thirsty?"

He shook his head. "No, I'm fine."

I shrugged and ignored the look he kept giving that thing.

So I got myself a drink of water. And I heard those blades once more.

And here I am now, writing this. Yeah, I'm still looking for idea guys, now that my other one is dead, actually looking at what used to be his body. From what I saw, several of those hoops wrapped around him, and tore right through. I don't know how it does those things, but I'm gonna find out. Besides its

Holy crap its flashing now! What is it doing? You know what, I'm gonna go find out. This thing is basically the physical body of envy, I get that, but it did show up in my home, so I bet it won't hurt me like it did to those others.

It loves me, I can feel it.

This is so weird, what an odd feeling. You know what, it looks almost like it grew a little. It looks so soft, so calming, so relaxing.

You know what, I'll be right back, I can feel that there is something special about this thing.
