"Great, another one of you, weirdos," I angrily mutter. This new person was wearing a tux. It looked somewhat cheap but the Rolex watch told me that he was very rich. Or a thief. Most likely a thief. I turn away from him, not really wanting to pay attention.
The man chuckles. "I would've thought you of all people would recognize me, Lizzy," they say.
My head slowly drifts in their direction. It was Tyler, of all people, Tyler. Didn't Maks just say he was dead? I look at Maks questioningly, "what the hell is this?" I ask him, looking between the two. I knew that Tyler wasn't dead from just that but why would Maks bring him here?
Tyler just laughs again. "Marcus here is working for me now," he pats Maks on the back as he looks away from me. So it was Maks. Maks was the one who kidnapped me here and brought Tyler here. He was the one who sold me out to him, he was the reason that I was pushed to accepting Tyler's offer.
"I already told you I'd accept your offer. Why go through all this?" I ask him.
"I wanted more from you than you think, Alice. I knew you'd go back to the bunker just not that quickly," he begins explaining, "Marcus was there to download files from your backup computers. There was a Cyber guard there of course so Marcus killed him. But when you showed up, he had to arrange a cover-up."
"I needed you to come with me Alice," Marcus speaks up, "but you weren't. It would be easier to get you when you felt safe so I told you that Tyler was dead but you still didn't believe me."
I nod my head, "so you kidnap me," I finish for them. I see Marcus nod and that breaks my heart to know that he's betrayed me in such a way. All those times we shared were for nothing. I should've known better. To him, it was just a job. But for me, it was like a family... "But why tell Damian that you were taking me to Bosnia? After all, I don't imagine you'll be actually taking me there," I question.
"No, we aren't. But Cyber wants you and him. Damian is just a gift from me to Cyber for their two best agents," Tyler grins and taps Maks on the shoulder. Like a signal of some sort. "Well then, let's prepare the helicopter. We're going to Arizona."
The warehouse in Bosnia was all a setup. Maks knows that Damian would go to any lengths to rescue me... but what's waiting for him there? Cyber isn't expecting Damian, they're expecting me.
Tyler steps out of the room as Maks walks over to me. He unties one of my arms from the chair. That's when I remember that taser. I whip it out from my pocket and tase Maks on the neck. He falls to the ground with a "thud." He's out cold.
"Sorry Maks," I say with a sheepish grin, "but I've got a bird to save." I untie my other arm, picking up Maks' gun. I run towards the hall where Tyler went out of. There is no sign of him. That scares me more, to know that he isn't here. It makes me feel more vulnerable. Even if I am being set up, I still have to try.
I make a bolt for the exit door. It leads to a helipad. My hair blows back from the sheer force of the wind that the helicopter was generating. I look inside to see that Tyler isn't there. The copter must've just landed. Without a second thought, I climb in.
"What the hell are you-"
I stick the gun in front of his head. "Take me to Bosnia, now."
