Jiwon went out to pay some bills and meet some friends. I had a lot of things to do, I really wanted to get rid of them as fast as possible, so I wasn't complaining. He told me he'd be home around 5 p.m and after he showered we could go out to have dinner together. Jiwon is not really the type to be late for anything, even if something happened he'd be sure to text me saying why he'd be arriving a few minutes later. Around 5:45 p.m I started getting very worried, so I texted him a couple of times asking where he was. There was no answer, so I was extremely worried. I paced around the apartment for five more minutes before deciding to call him. I call several times. No answer.
It's already 6:30 p.m when my phone rings and I grab it instantly, not even looking at the unknown number on the screen.
- Jiwon?? Are you ok? Why haven't you called before??
- Hello, this is from Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. We have a patient called Kim Jiwon, we were wandering if you know him?
My mind goes blank. My ears are buzzing loudly. I forget how to breathe. My hands start shaking on their own. My vision gets blurry. I lean into the wall behind me because my knees are weak and I don't know if I can stand still for much longer.
- Hello, are you still there?
- Yes, w-what, what happened?
- He got beaten up, it doesn't seem that bad but we're running a few exams and he's still unconscious.
