Beep… beep… beep… the heart monitor whispered always beeping, that infernal beeping, beeping faster and faster. I rolled onto my side trying to drown out the sound of the beeping of my own heart.
Hop, skip, jump, swim, faster, faster, faster, they command always moving, always faster, never stop, must run and keep running, beep, beep, beep, my heart beating faster and faster
“Alexis?” one of them called “Alexis!” she wailed, her voice sounding a million miles away. As I drifted into the darkness.
“You must run faster” he whispered “RUN AND NEVER STOP!” he commanded “You must run and never stop, DON’T ever stop, keep running, run until your legs bleed and your lungs burst, run until your heart explodes and then keep running never stop, DON’T YOU EVER STOP.” He warned.
Unlucky for me, my problems don’t end at death, these problems are not bound by the laws of life and death, death only prolongs the suffering, lengthens the torture I am forced to endure.
Yes I agreed, Sebastian was right we must run and never stop, run faster, jump higher, forget about the pain, Sebastian says pain is the weakness leaving our body, our one body, we move as one, one group, me, Sebastian, Daniel and April.
Our hearts race as one, we jumped through the tree tops and swing like monkeys through the trees, hop, skip and race always training, we were trained to destroy, never stop, never fear, you must kill what you fear to survive, they told us, I hate them, the grownups, in those white coats, carrying clip boards and Tasers, thickly padded with gear and armour, they drum it into us, beat it into us, stop, and be whipped, kill what you fear or it will kill you.
