It was midnight when I had finally returned to my bed.
The dreams felt so real, I was back with my friends, Daniel, Sebastian, and Lexi, we were running from something, no, someone they were chasing us, they were fast “run, ha, ha, ha, faster!” he shouted, “run faster!” he cackled hysterically as he chased us, there were creatures in the woods, running across the forest floor, snarling great animals.
Wolves they ran, some jumped, climbing up the tree trunks chasing us, snarling, snapping at our heels as we hopped from branch to branch, they were running alongside us.
Suddenly one of them jumped, wrapping it’s arms around Daniel. “Daniel!” I screamed, but it was too late he was gone, hurtling down through the tree tops.
“Keep running, he’s gone.” Sebastian called, then a wolf grabbed him and he was gone too. “Lexi, Lexi what do we do, we can’t, there are too many!” I wailed, tears blurring my vision. “Lexi, lookout!” I screamed as a wolf grabbed Lexi, I was all alone now running from wolves and someone, until finally the wolf grabbed me too and we began falling through the trees, branches like hands slapping and scraping at my cheeks, the wolf’s grip tightened around me, his claws digging into my ribs, I tried to scream but all that escaped my lips was a mere gasp as we neared the ground. The wolf laughed. “Close your eyes, you won’t feel a thing, I swear.”
I knew that voice, that same voice that helped me after the escape, the same voice that calmed me down and helped me in the pool and saved me from drowning. Taylor.
I woke up panting, sweat ran down my face, I was shaking and shivering. I ran to the door wanting to be as far away from the bed as I could get.
Suddenly there came a bang and a roar, I opened the door and wondered down the corridor towards the noise, this corridor seemed bare and empty, with thick barred doors on each side, like cells.
One door was open ajar, there were sounds of fighting and shouting. I peered through the door. Tyler was struggling and tumbling on the floor as many hands reached out and trying to restrain him.
He rolled on the floor screaming helplessly in pain, he phased into a wolf roaring loudly as a group of boys tried to hold him down, they dog piled on top of him. One of them pointed at the door, I had been seen.
Taylor walked towards me, his face was sweaty but as pale as a ghost, he filled the gap.
He pushed past me and pulled me in step behind him “I’m taking you back to bed, what are you doing here anyway, wait why are you even up?” he asked, we stopped suddenly in the corridor and he turned to face me, demanding an explanation.
“I had a nightmare” I was about to say, but I knew it was a weak excuse. “I heard a noise and it woke me up so I went to see what it was” I knew he didn’t believe me but he continued to escort me back to my room and watched me climb back into bed. “Goodnight” he said turning towards the door and sliding the lock into place.
