I clutched the bars of my cell until I heard a hissing, sizzling noise, I immediately flung myself as far away from the bars as I could. Taylor saw this and chuckled.
“You might want to be careful, the bars are made of silver, burns werewolves like acid.” He touched the bar with one finger, it sizzled at that moment he removed his finger as if demonstrating the effects.
I stared at him, my body filling with hatred, for what he had made me.
He ignored this rage and continued talking. “Today we are going to get you out of that cell, you will behave and we won’t have any problems ok?” he said.
I nodded my head slowly unsure why he would let me out. He unlocked the bars to my cell and the one next to it.
“Wake up Tyler, we’ve got to show this new pup how to be a werewolf.” He called.
I crawl out of the cage stretching all my tired muscles. Tyler crawled out of his cell and did the same, then smiled when he saw me. I blushed.
I was escorted to the canteen, Taylor on my right and Tyler on my left. We sat at the normal table as Taylor went to get us all food.
“So how have you been?” he asked genuinely concerned.
“My gums have finally stopped bleeding and my eyes are back to normal I think” I say. “What about you, you were hurt pretty bad, are you ok, any breaks or fractures?”
He smiles at this. “No none of those, don’t worry about it, that kind of thing happens quite often but I heal pretty quickly.” He answers.
“Why? Why does he do that to you, he is so cruel, I don’t get it”
“He gets frustrated when I don’t do what he says, that’s all.” He shrugged.
“But why don’t you, wouldn’t it be easier if you did?”
“It doesn’t matter much, he knows I’ll heal it’s just my way of showing that I’m not gonna be his little bitch, it’s not like I asked to be this way, I know you didn’t, that’s for sure.”
Taylor returned to the table with a tray brimming with all types of meats, bacon, sausage, hams, meats stuffed with other meats, it was all there. My mouth was watering; I was practically drooling by the time he reached the table.
He sat down with the tray; he pushed the tray almost taunting me with the succulent aromas. I couldn’t hold it off any longer, I grabbed the meats, chomping and stuffing pieces into my mouth crunching through bone and marrow. Taylor and Tyler watched amused by it all.
Finally the tray was empty but I still wasn’t full. I looked up at the two of them smiling encouragingly at me.
“You know, you can get some more if you’re not full.” Taylor said.
I was already on my feet before he finished his sentence. I had my face pressed against the glass gawping at the meats I filled my tray with them all.
As I turned from the counter returning to my seat I was slammed in the stomach by none other than my former bully Cameron, he was an ugly mutant, at least one of the ugliest I have ever seen. He had the ability to force poisonous thorns out of his bare flesh and used that to terrorise many of the younger, weaker mutants.
“Watch where you’re going!” he said slamming my tray to the ground.
The anger surged inside me, burning through me, I had never felt anything so strong. I lashed out clawing his cheek with my massive claws, they left angry red lines on his face. He fell to the ground with a thud. He unleashed a wave of needle sharp thorns directly at me, which only seemed to make me madder.
I pounced on him clawing at him as one of the spikes stabbed pierced through my nose, that’s when I bit him aiming for the only bit of clear skin I could see. I bit into his neck with all my strength ripping through vital veins and grinding my way through brittle bones. I pulled hard on his throat until it tore.
Suddenly all the anger and fight went out of me and I pulled back in horror. My hands were no longer long yellow claws, they were just pale skinny fingers drenched in blood.
“Oh no!” I gasped. “Oh no, oh no, oh no, I’m sorry Cameron!” I said lifting up his head his head drooped back words. “Wake up Cameron please wake up, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” I said tears raining down my face, I had killed him.
I felt Tyler put his arms around me. “He’s dead.” Tyler said easing my hands off Cameron’s body. He held me close to him while I cried, I felt disgusted, I was a monster, I had killed another mutant, I felt, I felt…
Like I was going to be sick. I rushed towards the bin at the other end of the room. I vomited and coughed up everything I had just eaten, my stomach contracted painfully and I threw up harder into the bin. Tyler smoothed my hair back from my face.
“I think we have a problem” Taylor said, approaching us, stating the obvious.
“No shit Sherlock!” Tyler erupted angrily, I began to feel woozy. “This is all your fault the whole thing, you did this to her and now a mutant is dead, if anyone is to blame it is you, this whole thing is all on you!” he shouted.
The two brothers fought as the room began to spin.
“April!” Tyler called.
“It’s the poison” Taylor confirmed as I blacked out.
