Jay's P.O.V
Ahhhh KFC. I was sitting there downing my fourth cup of coffee watching Andrew give Alex weird, scrutinizing looks.
"Alrighty, now that we've shoved in some food, not to mention all that caffeine, why don't we talk about your deepest, darkest secret? Which isn't exactly dark, or even deep." she said, kind of too dramatically, to Alex.
Alex choked on her coke, I think her third one, and stammered "Umm..Errrr..talk about what?"
"Don't play dumb," Andrew replied coldly.
They then decided to have a round of who-could-give-each-other-more-threatening-glares and trust me when I say you don't want to receive death glares from Andrew.
Hopefully, things wouldn't get ugly. Oh, who am I kidding! I'm sitting with two 17 year old, bad tempered girls, who have had god-knows-how-many-cans-of-coke. And they're pissed with each other. Given the fact that Andrew is sitting right here, things are obviously going to get ugly.
"What happened?" I asked, completely clueless.I had no idea what this was about, but as soon as I decided to speak up, Alex turned a deep shade of red. And there is nothing more adorable than Lexi blushing. I then decided that I had had enough and wanted to know what was going on and why Lexi was so red.
"Why are you blushing? Did I say something, Lexi?" I asked.
Alex and Andrew turned to me and at the exact same moment said "Lexi?".
Oops. Looks like I gave away my secret nickname for Alex.
"Yeah, as in Alex, " it was my turn to blush now "I thought it suited you."
Lexi, to my surprise, smiled and said, "Oh, thanks Jay."
Andrew, on the other hand, was looking at me like I was an alien, "Dude, you can't make a nickname out of a nickname. That's not cool."
I shrugged lamely and sneaked a quick peek at Lexi. Thankfully, Andrew decided to drop the topic, but I had a feeling I would be hearing more about it pretty soon.
"Okay, since you're not going to spill here, you might as well tell us at the spot tomorrow."
"You guys, what is happening!" I was getting annoyed now.
Andrew grinned slyly and said "Our little Lexi has a crush on someone."
Lexi just glared at Andrew and blushed again. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Wait. Had I heard that right? Lexi liked someone?
"I'm sorry, what?" I said, sounding harsher and more astounded than I had meant to.
"You heard me," Andrew glanced at me. She, obviously, had no idea about my feelings for Lexi. I felt my shoulders sag and I managed a weak smile at Lexi.
She smiled back, a sad, awkward smile. If only she knew how I felt. I still remembered the day I had met Lexi. We both were five and she had just moved in next door. Andrew was in her bedroom playing with god-knows-what and I was in the garden playing with this toy truck that I really loved.
My mum was talking to Mrs. Stilt and she told me to come say hello to Lexi. She had been sitting on top of the fence and humming to herself softly. I remembered feeling shy and going up to my mum and saying hello to her.
"Hi." I had said.
"Hey!" she had replied, sounding bored.
"Why don't you ask her to come over and you, Alex and Diana can play something?" my mum had so brilliantly suggested.
"You wanna be friends?" I had asked.
"Are you a goblin? You look like one." I had felt quite offended at this.
"Alex!'" her mother scolded.
"No! I'm not." I defended myself.
"Will you take care of me if there are any inside your house?" she asked, seriously.
"Sure. The only goblin inside that house is my sister. She even has a nose like one." I said. She laughed, and then we both ran back inside my house.
Even then, she had been adorable. She had laughed at every joke I made. No matter how stupid the joke was.I think that's probably what set off my liking for her.
And what's worse was that I couldn't have told anyone. If I told Andrew, the first thing she would do is probably tell Alex. If I told Ryan, the worst person to tell a secret, by the way, he would tell Andrew, and you know how well that would work.
If I told Marcus, he would just laugh it off and say that she wasn't all that hot. But she was. I think. To me she was the most beautiful thing when she smiled,an angel when she laughed and a divine goddess when she sang.God I had it bad.
Well, now she was probably going to get a new boyfriend, because no one in the right mind would say no to her, and probably end up becoming miserable again, like she was with Chris. I mean, I had a girlfriend and all, but it wasn't serious. In fact, I was going to break up with her and tell Lexi how I felt. That plan wasn't going to work out. Wow, Jay, way to go.
