ELEA'S POV
That girl was weird. Not just the usual realm of weird. She'd seemed like she was hiding something, but you're not sure what. Perhaps you can do a little more digging, but if she was a traveler, she wouldn't have many friends or contacts in Norrle you could talk to.
You drop it, but if you meet Lilac again, you'll definitely see what you can find out, if anything.
You pace. You can't stop thinking about the dragon attack, and more specifically, about the girl you saw riding them. Technically, she's an enemy of the kingdom, but if that girl managed to... befriend? tame? the dragons, she'd be fascinating to talk to and figure out how she did it.
You've seen many dragon attacks, several of which seemed to have mostly the same dragons as this one did, but you've never seen that girl - the dragon rider, you tentatively dub her - before.
You're not an idiot, and you know that the dragon rider wouldn't be likely to talk freely about the dragons, but you consider yourself to be relatively good at finding out secrets. Sometimes, your job involves convincing traitors in the dungeon to talk, though you're not a fan of torture. But perhaps that persuasion could help you.
LILAC'S POV
You explain the situation to Cheorviss on the way back. It's pretty bad. Maybe Elea got a glimpse of your face and she did recognize you.
"You'll have to be much more careful now," Cheorviss says grimly. "I don't want anything to happen to you. None of us do."
"I know. I know both of those things," you reply. "Maybe I shouldn't be there during attacks."
"Agreed," Cheorviss says. "You'll have to be more careful when you go to market, too. What happens if you get found out? You know more about human customs than I do."
"Not by much," you mutter, then add, "I really don't know. I'll probably be executed for...treason? Though I wouldn't think that it's treason, seeing as I don't live in Norrle."
Cheorviss nods and sighs, an odd sound with a dragon. You're not sure how to describe it. "I just really hate the idea that anything would happen to you," he says after a short silence.
"I know. You said that. I'll just lay low as best as possible for a while and see how it goes, I guess," you say. "I can't think of a better option."
