Your eyes fluttered open, squinting slightly at the early morning Sun's rays that shone through your curtains. You rolled over, checking your alarm clock.

5 am

Now this wasn't an uncommon occurrence. You were usually awake just as the sun was rising. There was just something intoxicating about the peace and tranquility you felt as you walked through the silent tower and into the streets of the city that never sleeps.

However this morning was different. As you crossed the clear perspex threshold of the Stark Tower you were greeted by two familiar figures on the steps. You furrowed your brows.

'They aren't meant to be up yet,' you thought to yourself.

Steve and Sam sat chatting idly, running shoes on and when they saw you smiles became etched upon their faces.

"Good morning, doll!" Steve waved excitedly, standing to pull you into a quick side hug.

"Morning, (Y/N)," Sam greeted a little less cheerfully. Obviously he wasn't that much of a morning person.

"Morning?..." You confusedly glanced at them. "What-what are you doing up?"

"We thought that we would join you on your morning run," Sam replied standing up to stretch out his legs.

"If you don't mind, that is," Steve  retorted, rubbing the back of his neck. You raised an eyebrow at him. "May we join you, (Y/N)?"

You eyed Steve suspiciously. "No."

"What?" Steve chocked. "B-but (Y/N) come on," he whined, like a child. "It'll be like old times!"

"Steve, in the 40s, you hated running, especially running with me."

"Yeah but now it's different. I can actually keep up with you this time." Steve pleaded, his eyes trained on Sam. He watched his friend bound down the steps and out of ear shot before he turned back to you.

"Alright. Steve, what's really going on?" You questioned.

He sighed at your ability to see right through him. "Sam made a stupid bet that you couldn't beat him in a race."

"He knows that I'm like you, right?" You laughed.

"What he doesn't know won't hurt him," Steve shrugged, a hint playfulness in his smile. This was the side of Steve Rogers you loved. He was so mischievous when around only you or Bucky. "So can we run with you?"

You nodded, whispering about how this was going to be the easiest money you've ever made, before dragging a smiling Steve over to his buddy.

-time skip-

"Don't say it. Don't you say it," Sam threatened as he ran rather breathlessly.

"On your left!" Steve smirked as he pushed past the slower man. Sam glanced behind him, knowing you wouldn't be far being Steve.

He saw you approaching him, barely sweaty and running fast paced, a smug smile on your face and a mischievous glint in your eyes. "(Y/N), don't eve-"

"On your right!" You yelled before sprinting past even faster to catch up to Steve.

The super soldier laughed and gave you a high five, before picking up the pace. This left Sam little over half a mile behind and grumbling to himself over the loss of $20 and the unfair advantages of super soldier speed.
