Spider-man silently landed behind an air vent, hiding and trying to be as quiet as possible. He watched as (Y/N) swung her legs back and forth, glancing down at the street below.
"Don't you know it's rude to spy on others?" She smirked, turning around to face him.
He sighed, scurrying out from behind the vent. "H-how did you know I was there?" He questioned, rubbing the back of his neck.
"What do you want, Spiderling?"
"I-its Spider-Man, not Spiderling."
"Riiiiight," she droned out, rolling her eyes at the boy.
"I-I," he stuttered.
"Come on, spit it out, Boy-Wonder."
He sighed, tilting his head to the side and throwing his arms out in front of him exasperatingly as he took a step toward the girl. "Now you're not even trying," he whined.
She raised her eyebrow at him. "What do you want?"
"For you to be apart of the team. My team."
"I've told you before, Bugsy. I don't play well with others," she grunted.
She glanced back over the city but when she felt the sadness drifting off the boy behind her she turned back to face him. "What? What's wrong?"
"I just, I don't understand why you don't want to join us."
"No offense, Spandex, but I work better by myself, you know that. Plus I don't really like you," she chuckled sarcastically.
"W-what?"
(Y/N) shrugged. "Call it, professional differences. I mean we've got a pretty good unspoken agreement going on. And I don't want to ruin that."
"An unspoken agreement?" The boy asked.
She sighed. "You look out for the little guy. It's what Spidey does. It's what you're good at. Stark and the Avengers, they defend the world. It's what they're good at."
"And what about you," he looked up at her, cautiously taking a step closer. "Who do you protect?"
"Everyone in between." She replied, stepping up on the roofs edge.
"Ahh, you-you might want to get down from there. You know, edge of building, 40 storey drop and everything." Spider-man stepped closer, arms out in front of him and webs at the ready, preparing to catch her if she fell.
(Y/N) smirked, her arms raised as if she was doing some twisted version of a trust fall. She looked at the boy beyond the mask, she could feel his anxiety bubbling below the surface. She frowned at his worried expression. "Don't worry. I'll see you around," she paused, staring directly into his eyes, a slight smile ghosting her lips "...Spider-man."
Spider-man's webs shot out too late as he watched her figure disappear over the roof's ledge. He scrambled to up the concrete, trying to catch a glimpse at the girl and hopefully stop her from falling to her death.
But as he started down at the empty space between the two sky scrapers, she was no where to be seen. He let out a sigh as he rubbed a hand over his masked face. The beautiful gleam of her (e/c) eyes staying a permanent fixture in his imagination.
Spider-man laughed to himself.
'How come the only time she gets my name right, is when she's trying to give me a heart attack?'
